Sunday morning buffet

With everyone’s attention diverted elsewhere, the pickings are kinda slim today, but they’re still served up with the same amount of love:

Re: Gator DTs. UGA had great DTs (several are now in the NFL). Look what happened.

Lewis Grizzard, James Brown, Larry Munson, Erk Russell. I don’t care whether we’re known in Montana. Georgia football is as rich and proud as any program in the country.

      Ain’t that the truth hogbody

While I applaud the feeling and agree with the premise that the UGA football program is “rich and proud” I am unaware that Lewis Grizzard, James Brown, Larry Munson or Erk Russell ever played a down football for the University of Georgia. ( Erk played at Auburn, was the DC at UGA under Dooley but had his greatest success as the HC of Ga Southern where he won multiple D-IAA National Championships.) Maybe it might be better to come up with a few names of people that actually played at Georgia like, say, Fran Tarkenton, Frank Sinkwich, Charlie Trippi, Bill Stanfill and (of course) Herschel Walker among many others. Just sayin’.

Jake Scott, George Patton, Buck Belue, Frank Ros, Jimmy Poulos, Preston Ridlehuber, Lynn Hughes, Bobby Etter, Dickie Clark, David Greene, Mac Strong, Earnie “Meat Cleaver” Weaver…………the list is a long one.

Mayor, broaden your perpective. I speak of the lore and the community of Georgia football, not just the famous players.

No, you were speaking of the lore and the community of UGA, not the football team itself.

For some reason, bored I guess, I decided to watch a YouTube video titled “Auburn’s Dirty Hits Against Georgia.” That game was a monstrosity. I really hope we throttle them in Sanford. I’m not proud of this, but if we do I’m going to be a complete ass to every Auburn fan there. Cheering while our players were hurt, the dirty hits on Murray, Cam Newton’s trash talk and cheap shots… unconscionable.

At any rate, with that off my chest…

I encourage you to resist the impulse to roll around in the mud with Auburn fans. There’s nothing wrong with being the bigger man. In fact, there’s a lot of virtue in it. They know they’re assholes, they don’t need us to point it out. I say that every UGA fan should pretty much ignore them when they come to town, treat them with dismissive indifference when you must talk to one, and wish them safe journey when they leave, and be done with it. That’s my dream scenario.

Muschamp will kick Richt’s butt up and down the field all day long. Muschamp’s defense will eat Richt’s offense for breakfast.

  7. Reptillicide

Seems like everybody and everything that comes into contact with Auburn is in trouble with the law.

  8. Aside from what type people the AU(former now) players are for committing armed robbery, how much did they expect to get from robbing someone living in a trailer park?
As for Bo, the last 3 games against a Muschamp run defense Bobo’s offense put a beat down on Muschamp’s D. One of those times UGA wasn’t ranked and went into AU’s house with a true freshman at QB and it got ugly with the stands emptying early. One of my favorite games I have ever attended. Bobo might have issues against other DC’s but he sees his best friend and it is like taking on your little brother in the back yard, no matter how big he gets you are focused and going to make sure you kick his ass.

Don’t feel like you need to add the “former” to the title of “Auburn player”. After all, it’s a “family”. The only way to get out of a family is to die. Otherwise, you’re always associated… just ask anyone with a cousin or uncle in jail that they’d prefer everyone else forgot about. All in!
