Evidently I wasn’t the only one who did a double take over Schlabach’s preseason assessment of Florida State.

Is this a situation like we’ve seen for Boise State and West Virginia in years past? Is FSU’s ranking based on their status as the ACC’s “tallest midget”?
Castelberry, OBVIOUSLY you have forgotten that Coach Paul Johnson and his mighty Ramblin’ Wreck are in the ACC. That alone puts the ACC head and shoulders above any football conference in the country, including the NFC South!
Is FSU’s ranking based on their status as the ACC’s “tallest midget”?
They looked like giants to Irvin
“Six years of misery was partially erase as the Seminoles scalped the Gators 31-7 on senior day at Doak Campbell Stadium. UF jumped out to an early 7-3 lead, but the Seminoles of FSU responded with 28 unanswered points for a convincing victory. The Seminole Defense forced 4 Turnovers, and was the key to the game.”
No doubt I’m jealous about beating the Gators; however, a home win against a five loss team shouldn’t vault you into the top of the polls.
I have a general beef about pre-season rankings – especially those that are based on schedule strength – not who would beat who.
They could certainly stumble once or twice but the Noles may only be one game from reaching the Top 5, a win against Oklahoma. If they win that one at home, it is very concievable they could make it all the way through undefeated. I don’t think they get it done against the Sooners but they have the motivation after getting manhandled in Norman. I think they lose 2, maybe three, but they could pull it off.
