“Perhaps government involvement is the only way to spur change.”

Shorter Andrea Adelson:  if mid-majors got a better shake from the BCS, they could schedule more non-conference games with cupcakes.

UPDATE:  Skip Bayless finds grounds that an antitrust violation exists, because “over the past 20 or 30 years, millions and millions of taxpayers have been irate about the fact that we have no playoff system in college football.”

ESPN really knows how to raise the level of discourse on important topics.

Definitely not AA’s point (I think there was one) but if you read to fast you miss that implication. Another major assumption tucked away in there: “Any team that wins all its games deserves a shot on the field to play for a national championship.”

    • To quote the lady:

It is the financial disparity that is continuing to drive the gap between the haves and the have-nots, pushing the non-AQs back even further. Schools like Fresno State, for example, must go out and play difficult nonconference games for the guaranteed payday.

Between that and the line you cite, she’s basically validating Hawaii’s 2007 season.

So, end-of-season, Boise and TCU are the only undefeated teams left, while every conference champ has one loss to their most hated rival. Boise vs. TCU are the only teams that deserve to play for the crystal football? Yeah, makes sense to me.

Also, I went back and re-read for the alleged point. The DOJ can mess with the NCAA if real evidence of antitrust violations exist. But should the government step in and put a CFB playoff in place? Well, I voted “no” because “%$#@!, NO.” wasn’t an option.

The horse’s ass that is Skip Bayless doesn’t even deserve mention on your fine blog, Senator.

Andrea’s no Gary Patterson that’s for sure but maybe she should get the benefit of a doubt for one column that does not start with the end in mind only because she earned respect the old-fashioned way last preseason:

A preseason ranking that’ll catch your eye.

Had Andrea been on the selection committee for a 64 team playoff last year, maybe we would have been tourney-bound and more jacked to play a higher-seeded team than UCF or maybe UCF would have been the higher-seeded team.

In related *trust-busting news, Vanderbilt which usually distances itself from responsibility for degreeing Skip by subliminally intimating that he went to a SEC West university, for example, like an Ole Miss – the Vanderbilt of the SEC West – and had been previously considering efforts to excommunicate him from the Vanderbilt Student Media Hall of Fame is said to be now reconsidering those efforts. Previously, they did not know that Skip had the ability to be able to count into the millions and use the word ‘irate’ in a context that did not refer to Skip’s listening audience.

    Yes, that’s it.

Let the politicians “fix” college football.

They’ll turn this into a political cluster you know what and will screw up even that.

They’ll endeavor to require everything to be “fair” to everyone. “Everyone” better watch out what Congress’s idea of “fair” is.

How about colleges having draft picks out of high school? With losers starting first. After all, a draft”s good enough for the NFL.

So what if a Keith Marshall doesn’t want to play for New Mexico State, they drafted him and that’s where he’s going. After all, we’re just trying to be “fair.”

Brief change of subject, I was out on the patio and saw our big Ga Bulldogs flag lying on the ground. I guess the wind got it. Do I have to burn the flag since it touched the ground? [mental image of confederate soldiers tearfully folding a battle flag after Lee’s surrender]

Just wait until October. You will want to burn it by then.

The man asked a question and I simply answered it. Not sure that I any in manner offended you nor did I say anything that is incorrect. As of late (late being the past 20 odd years) I have wanted to dump my Dawg gear (key word: WANTED) at some point or another. Mostly around halloween weekend.

Back to the serious matter at hand. Under the well preserved traditions of the South’s oldest public institution, you are not required to burn the flag immediately.

Save it for opening weekend in Athens (dear Lord, NOT Atlanta) and burn it in the nearest pre-game BBQ pit.
