SEC coaches to Slive: we’ll see your oversigning proposal and raise you…

This is hilarious.

Best of all, seven SEC coaches voted to fund the proposed pay out of their own pockets.  (No, Richt wasn’t one of them.)

How are they going to top this at SEC Media Days?

85 ‘ships X $300 X 12 games = $306,000. Have the coaches put a pen to this yet before they proposed this?

Perhaps they only mean the ones who actually get in the game?

Might be an incentive for the coaches to limit playing time to just the starters. They’ll all be sucking wind by the 4th quarter.

What about the poor walk-ons? You going to screw them out of a scholarship and walkin around money?

Maybe the coaches could open a tattoo parlor and offer free tats. Then you’d only have to pay $3 a game. You could probably make money on NBA players. Alert the NCAA, another potential profit stream.

wouldnt this run afoul of Title 9, much less the NCAA? Seems like it would; the school pays the coach, the coach pays the players, the players end up with the cash.

Sounds great, I guess, but I think it’s more likely that the coaches who voted for it know it will NEVER happen, and figured they could ingratiate themselves to current players or recruits by taking a symbolic stand. “See, kid? I think you guys need to get paid. It’s the darn NCAA and the lesser, cheap ass schools who dont want you to get your money, not me!”

    bleah.

If I’m a college football player and get a tatoo of my school’s licensed logo, am I in breach of some copyright infringement? Does it depend on if I trade my conference championship ring for the tatoo? Hummm, Senator, aren’t you an attorney?

More importantly, if I lose the copyright infringement case do I have to get my skin peeled off?

What could go wrong with this brilliant plan?

Seems like a tongue-in-cheek way of saying, “go to hell” to Mike Slive.

Nine blog posts in one day? That has to be some kind of record. Well done.

Will never pass. Will be huge for Spurrier in recruiting. Not only do you not have to obey the rules if you’re good, but Spur-dog would pay you … if he only could!

Spurrier mocks Richt’s ridiculous “roster management” proposal with a proposal of his own.

    Perfect!
