In a fairly short period of time, Russ Campbell has negotiated two monster raises for Bobby Petrino and Gene Chizik.
You’ve gotta love SEC athletic directors.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Can’t say I blame them. No AD in his right mind wants to take a ride on the coaching carousel.

Chizick should only get credit for hiring Malzahn and doing things the “Auburn way”

For real. All Chin Gizzic did was look the other way like he was told. Boom. Raise… or hush money, if you prefer.

You’re so right. We all know it happened, because It was written right there on some internet forum.

It’s kinda sad to watch you guys all turn into Bammers.
Maybe you’ve always been that way and I just didn’t know it.
Either way, the constant excuse making is pretty pitiful.

Look, it’s not that I don’t get it: You’ve just won a national title, and you want respect for that accomplishment, not a bunch of people casting aspersions on how you got there. I get that.
But let’s say Arkansas had a QB people were talking about as the second coming of Ryan Mallett. He leaves Arkansas under dubious circumstances, spends a year at a JUCO, then starts casting about for an SEC school to transfer to. He winds up at Georgia — or, hell, let’s say Bama — and then it becomes public knowledge that he’d wanted to go to Tennessee but the Vols said no when his dad tried to charge them $200K for Junior’s services. You’re not gonna be the slightest bit suspicious about that? Not even a little?
Am I jealous? Of course. Anyone would be. But independent of that, your borderline-obsessive need to respond to every such comment on this blog betrays a certain methinks-the-lady-doth-protest-too-much quality. But hey, like you said, whatever makes you feel good about yourself, right?

You’re wasting your time, Doug. Ol’ Ward is making hay while the sun shines, and he knows as well as we do that it might not shine forever.

i haven’t responded to “every such comment”. just the dumb ones, that imply things that have no factual basis.
(and I’m always impressed by the quantity of response you guys seem to have)

Quit trying Ward..I’ve said it over and over again…Cecil Newton is a Miss St problem..3 former players working $$$ to get his son to State….but Cecil & Cam decided on Auburn, therefore he must have been paid….that is just the way it must have been. No other explaination on why he’s choose Auburn.

For cryin’ out loud Cammie said it himself. When asked by a friend of his why he went to Auburn instead of Mississippi State he replied: “The money was too much.”
