A rising tide lifts all assistant coaches’ boats.

Coaching salaries keep going up and up – and this should help buoy the trend:

“It surprises me, the big money going to the SEC and Big 12,” Lattinville said. “I think you’ll see the Pac-10 paying more because they have a creative commissioner and will bring more money in. If you want to maintain the best coaches, you’re absolutely going to have to do it.”

What’s good for Jimmy Sexton is good for America.

“The Fire Ants return in swarming fashion and will bring inevitable Black Death.”

Aaron Beasley is quickly becoming one of my favorite bloggers.  I can’t wait to see how he tops this line about Jadeveon Clowney:  “He ragdolls opposing players to the ground in a humorously abusive manner.”

What a coincidence.  Aaron writes in a humorously abusive manner.

A funny thing happened on the way to the stadium…

Another South Carolina player bids to become a member of the Stephen Garcia support group.

… USC defensive back DeVonte Holloman was arrested  Saturday and charged with DUI. The report said Holloman was arrested at a sobriety check-point on George Rogers Boulevard, which runs directly in front of Williams-Brice Stadium.

Holloman is a returning starter at safety.  Care to predict the odds that he’ll be on the field in Athens?

And the big man joined the band…

I first saw Clarence Clemons play in a college gym in the winter of ’73.  I’m not sure I can count the number of times I’ve seen him since then.  I know I can’t count the number of times I’ve played Springsteen records ’til it seemed like I’d worn out the grooves, but it’s safe to say he gave me a lot of pleasure over almost four decades.

R.I.P., Big Man.
