Tasty morsels from the world of college football:
- This can’t be good: “UT now has just eight scholarship seniors, and more than 70 percent of the roster is freshmen and sophomores.”
- Gene Chizik blames his higher-ups at Iowa State for the unpleasantness surrounding his departure. Nice.
- Paul Westerdawg returns to a subject I’ve harped on here: accountability.
- There sure are a lot of factors complicating Big East football expansion. And the conference turned down a $1 billion TV package from ESPN? Dayum.
- Speaking of TV packages, it’s probably a good thing Georgia Tech isn’t in the Big East right now. The Jackets need every penny of that ACC broadcast revenue.
- Leather Helmet Blog scouts the South Carolina defense.
- Is Chip Kelly really this stupid? Or does he just think the NCAA is?
But Senator, Tennessee did beat Memphis, Ole Miss, Vandy and Kentucky to finish strong last season. That makes them a darkhorse SEC championship contender.

Oh, please, cry me a river Chizik. You quit Iowa State, and then wonder why they are not happy with you? Poor baby.

“but….but….it warn’t my fault! God did it!!!”
I remember reading, in German history before World War I, how one of the Kaiser’s long-suffering ministers lamented his inability to prevent his ruler from making one of his many hair-brained statements that periodically put the continent into an uproar. He appealed to the Almighty, saying, “What can I do? After all, he is King and Emperor by the grace of God!”
To which God replied, “So…now you want to put the blame on Me!”

Worse than that, it appears that Chizik actually told his bosses at Iowa State that he was going to withdraw his name from consideration for the Auburn job and then when the Auburn job was offered he did a complete about face and took it. He word means nothing and apparently he doesn’t even see anything wrong with doing what he did. The man not only has no integrity he doesn’t even know the meaning of the word.

Seeing that GT will put more money into advertising must make a blogger smile. All-you-can-eat hot dogs and “choose your own kickoff time” can’t be far behind.

to “this had to be a God appointment…”

As to Chip Kelly and the Oregon Ducks, yes they think the NCAA is stupid—and they are right.
