Just curious: if John Brantley had thrown for 3,049 yards and 24 touchdowns last season, do you think Pat Dooley would have him ranked as the ninth best player in the conference?
That couldn’t have been easy for him.

Fun fact: with the exception of the Florida game and possibly the UCF game, none of that is Murray’s fault.

I would add that the real difference in the Florida game was that UF took opportunities on defense when they were handed to them, and we did not.

Some Gator experts* think that the “Weis Effect: You Are Now Entering a NFL Feeder Zone,” much along the lines of what Lane did at Tennessee, is going to assist Brantley. On the basis of the Weis Effect, Pat Dooley may decide to rate Brantley somewhere between the 8th best and best player in the SEC
“Weis is probably the best thing that that could have happened to Brantley OC wise”*

Dooley ranked Murray the 9th player overall in the SEC, out of a possible 264 starters, and that is seen as a slight?

Dooley also said that Murray was “probably the best quarterback in the league.” I guess being the best QB only qualifies as being 9th best player. Unimportant position.

Zing. But in fairness to one of the few reasonably nice Gator fans (is there such a thing?) who visits here, I might have said the same about Brantley vs. Murray after 2010 spring practice. Not that Brantley was Tom Brady as written up, but a better bet than Murray at that point in time.

I don’t get the Buck-bashing.
He’s a good ole boy from the swamps who won a national title, played professional baseball, makes a shitload of money in the media with an affable, conversational style (and doesn’t give a damn about your opinion of him).
I don’t have to agree with his opinions, but I’d rather listen to him than most of the screaming, arrogant blowhards in the Atlanta market.
