It’s tough to shun a list that puts us at the top, but any list with Oregon in it should be shunned. And Florida… really? Anything with that garish blue and Orange should not be on a best of list. If you’re going to do some shade of Orange and blue, it has to be the hue of Auburn’s, IMO.

I went to a high school with the same colors as Florida (this was before I was introduced to my seething hatred of UF), and I thought the color scheme was horrendous even then.

Same here. Went to Columbus High, and the uniforms at that time were basically just copies of Florida’s. The students had these orange shirts to wear… it was really just awful. Thankfully, these days the football team wears blue helmets with a knockoff of the Chicago Cubs’ logo (CHS instead of CUBS).

yeah, I really think my bias towards those colors aren’t based in my hatred of UF. Boise has the same colors.. and they’re just ugly.

They also inexplicably happen to be very popular colors for children’s clothes. My wife and I just got through back-to-school shopping for our sons, and we had to actively avoid blue and orange.

In general the list is pretty good, though I’d argue VT, Oregon and UF don’t belong there.

And it also just highlights the folly of the “combat uniforms” we have to wear for the Boise State game.

UF’s helmets have always reminded of Orange Sunkist.

Real, actual football starts next week. Now, I love that our uni’s are picked 1st, but isn’t this an April or May sort of article?

Well, Herbstreit always does a list like this right before the season each year…so, yeah, your point stands, I guess.

You know, for all the talk about Crowell coming in expecting everything handed to him on a silver platter, etc. — a la Ealey — he consistently comes off in interviews like a pretty humble, down-to-earth guy.

The Bulldogs have an ideal situation for simulating Boise State’s offense. Left-handed quarterback Michael Tamburo – a transfer from Boise State – will simulate the Broncos’ heralded, left-handed quarterback Kellen Moore.

Forgot that we had a former Boise player on the roster. Forget that he’s a left-handed; here’s hoping Grantham has had a few minutes to pick his brain this summer.

I’m with heyberto; Florida’s unis are an affront to functioning eyesight. And just because Oregon occasionally comes up with a combination that’s not seizure inducing, that doesn’t excuse their usual attire.

I’m as big a fan of tradition as the next guy, but it really isn’t a big deal if Georgia tries alternate uniforms once in a while. The black jerseys are awesome, I don’t care what anyone says. And while I don’t like the Pro Combat ones, I don’t hate them either and it’s only for one game. If wearing them means that Georgia continues to get uniforms and workout gear for the players, then so be it.

I don’t like the Pro Combats, but they’re so much better than the black pants and black helmet combo that it’s not even funny. I love the black jerseys. If it were up to me (and it’s not), they’d be what we went to when it came time for alternate looks. That, or red pants with the white jerseys on the road every now and again. But, hey, if the players like them, then I can get used to them.

Agreed. In my opinion, it’s not a violation of tradition to change things up for one game; hell, if anything, it makes one appreciate how fantastic our uniforms really are.

And the black jerseys rule. I wish we would break them out again this season if things go well.

You’re all over it Irishdawg. The only thing I differ with you on is that I hate the Pro Combat unis. However, I guess my issue with everyone barking about tradition and the pro combat unis, it’s not like we didn’t know that a pretty big departure was coming… I was just hoping for something that looked cool and these don’t. These are very blah for me. Despite my disdain for UF’s colors, I thought their pro combat unis looked pretty good, with the gator texture. I seem to recall a mockup of something similar for Georgia making the rounds. A somewhat traditional UGA uniform pro combat scheme with some white bulldog fur texture.

My thought on the black jerseys is its fine occasionally. They definitely look good. But make the players earn the right to wear them. You beat Florida, you get to wear them for a home game after that of your choosing. You get to the Auburn or GT game with no losses or one loss or something, you get to wear them. That kind of thing. Take the element of surprise out and take the stigma off of the uniform debacle. The BSU game is different.. it’s a high profile game and it’s kind of something you have to do to appease Nike and help them out. I get that, and I think they’re handling it the right way. I just wish Nike and the school had come up with something different than what we’re getting, and I don’t necessarily mean more traditional.

The black jerseys should only be worn as a reward for winning the SEC East. Win the East, and the very next eligible game where are allowed to (be it Kentucky, Auburn, Tech, SECCG, or the bowl game), the players get to wear them. That should be it. Nothing more. No black helmets, no black pants, no red facemasks, etc. Just a black jersey like we wore against Auburn and Hawaii.

$9 for a beer? Do they think they’re in Yankee stadium? And what kind of watered down light beer will that buy?

Shoot, I can get a 4 pack of the best stuff around for $9, and I don’t even have to sit through West Virginia football to get it.

Save your game money to purchase old couches. You will have a use for them after the game.

Have any of you heard of the old days (50s-70s) when a flaming piano was pushed down the Lumpkin St hill? When the Dean of Men (Tate)rode a horse into an admin bldg in his youth?
Went on a hiking trip with him and other UGA/environmentalists to dedicate the end of the Appalachian trail in N. Georgia.

Kiffen’s class of 22 now down to 9. When they tell you they will test you ….you wanna think the kids believe them. Murry’s number just bumped up a little in Knoxville.

Those Maryland threads are an abomination; a curse against God and man that deserves a smiting. That is the worst uniform design since the Army came out with a camoflauge pattern that doesn’t work in any environment and is covered in velcro.

I mentioned Tamburo in an earlier reply and what the coaches would do with him. I’m sure CMR did the same thing that Bobby Bowden when CMR came on board. “Do have a playbook copy or a book of plays from memory?” He would not be the only source for plays and etc. QB Mason played in a highly productive spread scheme in HS. As did Fr. OL Xavier Ward. Any OL would be good for footwork, hands, and blocking schemes on the line and off. And where do you think Tamburo will be in the game re signs and signals. It will be fun to watch this game.

Senator, have you seen the results of the alumni effort to make a better UGA promo for 2011 football games? It’s up on Facebook, they posted it today. It’s really well done. In my opinion, it’s better than any of the ads the school put together over the last few years.

Anybody think it’s a good idea to start selling beer in a year when you’ve got a bunch of raging cajun’s visiting you from LSU? Or perhaps, maybe that’s the reason why they waited until this year to start…
