I think the big thing for the true frosh is making the roster to start with. There will be opportunities to move up as the season progresses.

I think it’s fantastic that Branden Smith’s injury appears to be as minor as we were told last week, since he’s starting. I think Jarvis Jones and Alec Ogletree are going to hurt someone Saturday night. I think any kick return situation is going to be fun Saturday night. I think Israel Troupe simply must not get what we’re trying to get done, there’s really no other explanation. I think my seats aren’t high enough in the Dome for me to jump if anyone on the O-Line limps off, and that’s probably a good thing.

Can Bean Anderson qualify as a Player-Coach like Pete Rose did at the end of his career? Dude graduated HS in 2006.

I’m sure Vasser is a gamer, but I think Stripling’s injury put him 3rd on the depth chart.

I actually think he graduated HS in 2005 – a year at Hargrave (06), an RS year (07), then played 08-11.

Yeah, TE is stacked. That will be a big help for Murray not having AJ. With that said, I think King is more than ready to be our A receiver, we just need someone else to step up to help carry the load.
And I may end up being dead wrong here, but I am becoming more and more convinced that we will be seeing the best UGA defense we’ve seen in 6 seasons.

I’m not so sure about that. Past years you would not see a talented QB that was going to get redshirted that far down on the depth chart. I can see him behind Murray and Mason, but not Welch.

Ol Boo just isn’t getting it done. Somebody (…SPQR15?) was riled up at me for questioning his readiness when we lost the old #3 and #4. He was at the bottom of the depth chart after the Spring. And he’s still there.
I’m not sure where people are getting their faith from on Malcome, but I hope things come together for him at some point. At best, if Samuel and Crowell are both good to go, we may only have two SEC caliber running backs on our entire team. We sure could use a decent Malcome for depth.

I’m not sure if it was you or someone else I responded to about this but my problem wasn’t with anyone questioning his readiness. My problem was the whole doom and gloom thing and people saying Malcome sucked. By all accounts he was bottom of the depth chart then bc of an injury and that is still the case. We were fine at RB immediately after the departure of King and Ealey and we still are. As for the faith in Malcome, every article I have read about the kid says he has looked very good when healthy. I see a big difference between not being healthy and not being good….don’t you?

I agree with you that saying “Malcome sucks” is ridiculous. Just as ridiculous as saying he’s a solid option at RB — not enough evidence either way.
I still disagree with you that losing King was somehow good. Ealey, yes. King, no way. He worked hard (just not in the classroom) and his teammates really like him.
With respect to your point that we would be fine with Boo, Crowell and the Keebler Elves … I guess the coaching staff disagreed b/c they moved ILB Samuel back days later.
Look, Boo hasn’t been healthy to practice consistently in at least half a year. If he doesn’t get healthy at some point, it won’t much matter whether he’s good or not. Part of being a good athlete is staying healthy.
As far as B Smith getting carries out of the backfield… I’m just going to leave that alone.

I think the story with Boo is the nagging groin injury. Remember how he kept saying he was working through it…and then he was out. My thoughts are that it just wasn’t getting well so he finally had to just give it rest.

I think the Rambo situation might be minimal. It seems like your typical minor off field offense and lose the right to start. I hope I’m wrong and Sanders Commings is the next Ronnie Lott.

What was more interesting, though, was the poll at the bottom, which posed the question of whether Boise would cover the 3 point spread. I’m holding my breath for an offensive formation that gets Charles, Figgins, Aron White and Brandon Smith on the field at the same time. FYI, if Bobo figures out how to do this and still run the smallest guy on the team up the middle for a 3 inch gain, I’ll stick my head in my charcoal smoker and leave it.

That’s good news. Plus redshirting LeMay should be taken as a vote of confidence that he will start some day after Aaron has moved on. This leaves him with the possibility of two years leadership. Everyone should have full faith in Mason by now. Somehow I always see Greene when Hutson is in the game.

Hutson is impressive, it’s clearly Murray’s show, but if he falters, offense is in capable hands. Greene? High cotton there, hope that turns out true.

The surprises in this lineup shouldn’t be surprises at all. Just look at nagging injuries, discipline measures that are not headline flashes to the world and new faces improving the game at that position as the reasons for this lineup. Read it with a thought given to each individual having achieved the honor to be in UGAs 2011 starting lineup. Look at their volume of work to be where each player is now and gain appreciation for the person and the position that Dawg will play.
There should be a long applause for these guys that rises to a crescendo by game time. The responsibility draped onto their shoulders by the coaches and for the team that will represent Georgia to the nation is immense. As fans we should be proud of their work efforts and endeavor to this point. Congratulations to all of us.

If I could parse my words better I’d accept “Most Improved Parser”.
This team of individuals, enigmatic though some are, are worth getting to know. I think most of their swagger is not contrived nor self-effacing, but rather based upon player’s perception of other team members. Their experience in practice and being awed by others on the team speaks highly of their new team psyche. We all will be hitting the passion roof of this team by gametime.

I’d have to say Bean is my biggest concern. He’s been here a long time and done just about everything asked – but still unproven. I hope he has a great season. If recruiting ratings are to be believed, there’s a heck of a lot of talent on that roster.

I actually met Bean about a month and a half ago in downtown Athens. He seemed to have bought in to Will Friend. Hopefully that will be visible on the field.

If Ogletree or Robinson get hurt vs Boise, say hello to Mr. Lattimore to that side of the field all day long the following weekk. A true freshman ILB backing up a newly converted ILB? I know Ogletree has the potential to be all SEC but count me as nervous for this position behind him and Robinson.
