Finding my religion

Dammit, Dawgs – how’m I supposed to maintain a detached coolness about Saturday night when you’re throwing out stuff like this?

“John had his best practice (Tuesday),” defensive coordinator Todd Grantham said. “I mean I thought he was really dominant out there. Those guys are all gonna play. It’s important that you have big guys up front that can play and rotate and keep them fresh. So they’re all gonna play.”

And this?

“He’s [Isaiah Crowell] every bit as advertised,” quarterback Aaron Murray said. “The kid every day in practice has turned people’s heads in practice. He’s a tremendously talented running back. He’ll show everyone this year. He’s going to make some plays that people’s jaws are going to hit the ground like, ‘Wow, that kid just made that move.’ “

I wish the game would up and get here.  I’m ready to do some cheering.

  1. Senator, I really hope this isn’t all happy talk. I’m looking forward to finding out Saturday night. People say the USC game is more important. I think this game is more important because it’s the next one and we find out if the culture of the program has changed.

One of my friends and I have been complaining for weeks that August is the longest month of the year. First, you already know if the Braves are making the playoffs and second it is a slow crawl to football season.

“F’ing it” is getting to be the epithet of choice on this blog. We would thank you to try to adhere to that. The Chinese manufacturers of our scooters are sponsoring this epithet, you know, like Nike sponsors the uniform. Their logo is an exclamation mark. F’ing Scooter!, F’ing line!, F’ing coaches!, F’ing media!- it’s the universally interchanged epithet that shows you care. Their sponsorship has caused problems with Chick-Fil-A since now everyone wants the F’ing game! to begin.

The following week we play the F’ing Chickens!

If UGA has a championship season, will this become known as the Season of the Fing Dynasty? I feel like I should be preparing by reading The Art of War, or worrying that the downside of a championshp run will encourage Mike Adams to declare himself the Emperor Hongwu II. The latter is a risk I am willing to take; there is great disorder under the heavens, and the situation is excellent.

Perhaps you missed my treatise on the F’ing dynasty a little over a week ago. Those arriving in the US became known popularly as the F’ing Chinese. Perhaps you’ve heard of them.

An aside-F’ing Shit has been found inside balast rocks found off the Ca coast. Didn’t realize it had made its way to Idaho and now to Atlanta.
Wait until I tell my friend in Ca, Yan Li. He thinks the F’ing Chinese came from Canada.

Stop it!! i mean it!!!! i’ve already convinced myself we’re getting blown out our first 2 games on our way to 5-7, the dream team’s a complete bust and our players are all stupid decisions waiting to happen. Stop trying to convince me we may be not awful this year.

If you are that miserable or down on our team, maybe you should go buy something orange to wear this year. I can understand guarded optimism but you are just so negative about everything related to the program.

Why is it wrong to be unhappy with the results we all have seen from this program over the past few years? If it is cloudy and raining I am not going to repeatedly tell everyone how beautiful it is outside. Apparently you would.

Find someone who is optimistic about this season and still happy about the results over the last few years. There are a few things to be optimistic about, that promote the POSSIBILITY that this season might be a good one. You can dislike the results of 08-10 and yet not have to think this year is already in the shitter as you do.

Because you bring everyone down including recruits. Psychology dictates people believe the worst and start acting/playing like it. Plus you should give the team a chance to play before you bash them. This is a different team.
Same reason ranking us number 1 was stupid…no one knows anything yet.

The manic/depressive swings of the fan-base are going to scary this year.
Win them all!!! FIRE them all!!! We will crush everyone!!! We’ll never win another game.

Yeah. And I don’t want to see any kneejerk pessimism about anything after this game. If you can’t cheer for the Dawgs as your representative in college football, win or lose, then go the hell where you can find a team that doesn’t lose. We are cheering for the players and staff , not the W/L column. Instead of watching the game, just wait for the Sunday paper for the score. That way you don’t try to screw up our day if things don’t go well for you.

Speaking only for myself, I see no knee-jerk reaction following Saturdays game. An L provides further evidence for those that believe CMR should be gone. A W offers a huge step along the path of recovery following the past few years. Either way, it will be interesting to see how the team responds the following week against USC.

Either way your emphasis is wrong. It’s just a bunch of mostly teenagers playing a college football game. Anything more or less that you place on it doesn’t change Jack Shit. By the way, I’ve missed seeing his blogs this year.

Man, this Kool Aid tastes great! I’m loving it.

Our 2nd string nose tackle is dominant. Our running back is as good as advertised. My God a freshman.

Did you hear that we’ve got two OL who are going to the NFL?

Did you hear that our DBs are making crazy interceptions?

Did you hear that our linebackers are super fast and hit like trucks?

Did you hear that our fullbacks are catching balls out of the backfield?

    I want to believe.

The only thing I have to add to this discussion is that there is a scenario where UGA plays their asses off and loses, and I will still be proud and not want everyone run off.

Just hope they play like warrior poets, win or lose. FREEDOMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!

I am reminded of an interesting verse, Mark 9:24. A man says to Jesus:

“I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

That’s a pretty accurate summary of my feelings heading into Saturday.

Well, if the OL handles the first step of Boise’s DL – we’ll be in good shape.

    Time will tell.

Boise is used to penetrating lines and this will not be the exception. We need to win most of the line contests to give Murray the chance he needs. Don’t expect perfection and you won’t be disappointed. And remember, coaches can’t play in the game, only the players can. Win or lose, watch for the struggle of each player. You will get more appreciation of what is happening. Think of their families watching and appreciate how they feel. Can you imagine Murray as your son and watching the Auburn/Fairley hits? Try it some time. He deserves Most Courageous Player Award for that game alone.

I hope the Dawgs are as well prepared as I am. Have our tickets, parking passes and am now working on the tailgate details. We’ve synchronised our watches, planned our route to the Dome and picked up some new Dawg apparel. The coolers are standing ready in the garage – just waiting to be filled with food & refreshments and iced down. Have flags, banners, umbrellas & canopy, chairs, table, grill, whirligigs, etc.

I know it’s cliche, but I really think the only thing standing between us and a big win on Saturday is ourselves. Boise can’t beat us, but we can sure as hell give the game away.

I’ll be disappointed if we lose, obviously. But honestly, not nearly as disappointed as I’ll be if we lose the next week. The first goal is still, and should always be, to win the East.

I just tackled my chair at work….I am SO F’ing ready for kickoff….

I work across the street from GTU, and so will be laughing at the NATS tomorrow night as they get ready to do battle…on a Thursday night…with no TV coverage (which would piss me off if I was unlucky enough to be a ‘fan’ of that ‘school’). We’re playing about 5 miles away two nights late, and the circumstances couldn’t be more different.

Kickoff can’t get here fast enough!
