Situation unchanged: dominant at the top, sorry at the bottom and jostling for position in the middle.
- LSU (6-0, 3-0). So scary that opponents’ starting quarterbacks are getting hurt the week before they play the Tigers.
- Alabama (6-0, 3-0). Marking time until November 5.
- Arkansas (5-1, 1-1). The Hogs look good when they play a little defense.
- South Carolina (5-1, 3-1). So that’s what pulling out all the stops against the worst team in the conference looks like.
- Georgia (4-2, 3-1). Hey, have you heard about the Bulldogs’ schedule?
- Auburn (4-2, 2-1). If the Tigers don’t find a passing game soon, they’ll slide some more.
- Florida (4-2, 2-2). In six games, Florida has yielded 115 points. 112 of those have come in SEC play.
- Mississippi State (3-3, 0-3). Win, shwin. Any week in which you allow UAB to hold its first lead of the season ain’t a good one.
- Tennessee (3-2, 0-2). In his presser, Dooley rambled about bamboo and water, which I guess is zenspeak for “you can’t win in this conference without a running game”.
- Vanderbilt (3-2, 1-2). If giving Alabama one tough half is progress, then the Commodores are progressing.
- Ole Miss (2-3, 0-2). The bye week wasn’t long enough. Next up: Alabama.
- Kentucky (2-4, 0-3). Vanderbilt minus the defense.
Yah, gotta like UGA’s schedule
Now it the O can become as hardnosed at the O – we’ll have a team.

I wouldn’t insult Vandy with that line on Kentucky. Vandy’s offense isn’t that bad.

The only disagreement I have with this order is that Vanderbilt should be above UT. The ‘Dores have the same won-loss record overall and have a better won-loss record in the conference.

Derrick Dooley: Carrot Colored Trouser Fashionista or the Bamboo Warrior?
“We’re water and bamboo,” Dooley said. “Bamboo sits there and you water it, and you water it, and you water it. It sits there and it doesn’t grow and it doesn’t grow and you water it and you keep watering it and nothing’s happening. If you don’t understand bamboo, you say it’s never going to grow. And then you come out and it goes ZHOOM! That’s what’s going to happen. I don’t know when that is.”

You are giving MSU too much credit. Bottom of the SEC is MSU, Ole Miss, and Cantucky in that order. Vandy, UT, and Auburn are all in the next tier. Florida will run all over Auburn this weekend, but if they don’t then the Gaytors have severe problems heading into Jax.

I think MSU beats UT head-to-head.

Vandy will get the opportunity to do just that! I think they succeed.

Do you really? I’m sure they got extra juice from being at home in Neyland, but I was fairly impressed with Tennessee offensively. Losing Bray hurts them, which is unfortunate seeing as how we’d like them to beat South Carolina in a few weeks. They can’t run the ball worth a damn, which is shocking to see in a Volunteer team, but I think they’d be able to pass all over MSU.

MSU’s secondary is pretty decent against the pass. Both of the corners are excellent.

Kentucky is so bad that…
if they were in the ACC they would struggle to finish 10-2…
they probably wouldn’t be undefeated with Tech’s schedule…

FIFY. Didn’t we hear all offseason about how Guz Malzahn was an offensive genius who could score points no matter who was at quarterback?

In Gus’ defense, you had to figure that if he could make a functioning QB out of Chris Todd, he could find somebody to man the position this year.

Most dangerous teams down the stretch. Two. One in the West and one in the East.
They are Mississippi State and Georgia. They have the look of “let’s start kicking the hell out of somebody”.
Both have to stay focused, execute, and play the full game. Both have the players and the staff.

MSU? The team that was down 3-0 to UAB at the half? The change at QB certainly was a spark, but that seems a trifle optimistic.
Of course, if they want to prove me wrong this week, I certainly won’t complain. 😉
