Seriously, you can’t make this shit up:

One of the reasons the Big East may be holding off on any expansion announcements about potential new members is that it is considering a plan that would create a nation-wide football conference incorporating between 28 and 32 teams in four divisions from Conference USA, the Mountain West Conference as well as the Big East.

I love the smell of desperation in the morning.

    If this happens, they should in no way be allowed to participate in football’s Division I. They can compete in Division IAA with the Southern Conference.

    ok….details have yet to be determined. But I kinda like the idea. I’ve always been a fan of giving nonAQ schools the chance. It may be desperation by the Big East but crazier things have happened.

      I agree and have thought this is the path the non-AQ schools should go. Not sure how they manage thier playoff, but if they were allowed to have two weeks of conference championship games (semi-final & final/championship game) they would then send the conference champion to a BCS game. Seems equitable and allows for these schools to at least have a path to relevance each year. The total number of AQ conference stay the same and is a hell of a lot more credible than allowing the BigEast to retain AQ status in it’s current state…

    Let ONE team emerge from the 32 of them and give THAT team one BCS slot. That sounds about fair to me. Do you think that’ll be enough to shut them up?

    Sounds like a good plan if all 32 teams get one AQ slot.

    Would require that we have a +1 for the BCS title game though.
