Doege’s final line on the day: 33 of 52 passing, 441 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INT. He had a better game against Oklahoma than he did against Kansas.
To be fair, Martinez fits right in with the rest of the Big 12. Oklahoma’s 78th nationally in pass defense. That’s fourth-best in the conference.
Get The Picture 
Wow. I sat there last night watching Texas Tech light up the OU secondary; watched the two long first-half TDs where OU defensive backs couldn’t make a tackle, and somehow forgot who was coaching those guys!
From a glance at a Sooner site, it looks like the ire of their fans is strictly aimed at the DC (and the place kicker!), and I don’t know that the game announcers mentioned Willie’s name at all. But yeah, you got to figure it occurred to Tubs during game preparations.

I have a question for OSU fans, when do you start to blame the head coach. When was the last time he won a meaningful game? I mean sure they are top ranked every year but then they just choke at dumb times during the season.

Before Stoops OU had done nothing since Switzer. He has won a national title and wins eleven games every year. “Blaming” him because they lose sometimes is asinine.

Just a theory, but I think their style creates an issue in big games sometimes. They like to go out and maul the opposition about as badly as they can–they run up the score as much as anyone– which gives players some time off in 4th quarters but also leads to lack of experience when faced with tougher opposition. That, and that the Big 12 consistently lacks good defenses, sets them up to look really good beating the snot out of Kansas, Iowa State, et. al., then they meet their match and perhaps are not used to a different level of resistance at other times in the year. They come off looking like they wet the bed.

I think there’s something to that, though in fairness, they gave Florida a game in the ’08 title game. If Bradford doesn’t throw that pick in the end zone it’s a different game.

My “Chokelahoma” came from my son-in-law and his friends in Texas. Saw it in a title of a blog just now and want all to know I don’t usually even read the titles of other blogs because one too many has caught my eye with a catchy title, but no content. My quote was over two years old and was not purloined from that blog. Thank you.

I think it’s reasonable to believe that the logical portmanteau was arrived at by more than one person in this world when talking about a team named Oklahoma that chokes all (a lot) of the time.

Was OU in a cover 2 most of the time last night? I wasn’t watching that closely. Seemed like they were getting beat on one-on-ones down the sidelines (would perhaps suggest blitzes) and underneath routes (that would be the zone, I guess).
Curious about this…who was watching OU’s defensive alignments? I’m wanting even more schadenfreude from Willie. They gave up 500+ yards to Missouri too.

The fact that the Coaches had OU number 1 was a testament to voting without thinking. They had played no one while LSU was beating quality teams like they were crap. OU and Big Game Bob are so overrated it hurts. Way to go T Tommy for exposing them.

As bad as most polls are, there are none as horrible as the Coach’s Poll. They admit they spend no time on it, have not ime to follow other teams, and often delegate the responsibility to some underling of questionable knowledge. On such as this, some claim pretend titles. How do intelligent people allow this to happen? Mumme Poll with less than 200 voters, many highly biased, is leap years ahead of the Coach’s Poll in cred…at least around heah.

I read somewhere that this year’s OU team reminded some of the ’07 UGA team that finished #2 in the nation. Now I know why.

My 2 cents on Oklahoma –
Remember Florida State before the nose-dive? They just overwhelmed most of their opponents with athleticism, and then one game a year, for whatever reason, it came down to execution. Wah-wah-wah-waaaaaaaah.
Happens all the time, actually, and it seems to happen more often with teams that enjoy final scores in the 50s – like Wisconsin.
Not just two teams upset – the two teams we enjoyed seeing upset. Thank you, football gods.
