Thursday morning buffet

The buffet will try to rise above the muck and mire this morning.

  • What a difference a year makes – ESPN article about mediocrity at the bottom of the SEC mentions Florida, omits Georgia.
  • A couple of days pass, and the Ole Miss rumor mill is already delusional.
  • “No one wanted to be that team at Georgia that ended the Mark Richt era.”
  • If you’re interested, the “1980 Dawgs” folks are putting on a “Bulldog Legends” Film, Photography & Cocktails  event for Georgia fans this coming Saturday, November 12th, both before and after the Georgia vs. Auburn Game at the Hotel Indigo in Athens.
  • Georgia 34, Auburn 19.  And Steele says Georgia 34, Auburn 17.
  • Aaron Murray, you threw five touchdown passes in a half!  What are you going to do next?  “I’m going to Disney World Mellow Mushroom with my family to watch the Arkansas-South Carolina game.”
  • Ray Ray Armstrong, Tweetin’ dumbass.
  • And Central Florida tries to slip its NCAA troubles in under the Penn State cloud cover.
  • This is as close as you’ll ever hear Mark Richt tell the media to kiss his ass.
  • I presume this means Craig James is in town.

“I’m not gonna answer that question because I don’t like that question.”

This is my new response for any question I deem stupid.

    Excellent work, Coach.

CMR was too nice to the prick that asked it. That question deserved more Evil Richt.

Given the way suspensions have been handled this season (i.e. swept under the rug because Richt “loves” these kids), I do not think it is a bad question. I do not understand Richt’s response. Are there any suspensions this weekend? Guess we will find out Saturday, or when the results of the drug test returns.

        • If you’re suggesting that publicly announced suspensions prior to having the final results in would have been appropriate, I hope you don’t run some business’ human resources department in real life.

Huh? What are you talking about with the final results? Crowell suspended earlier this year in a sneaky manner. Rambo as kind of in the same manner. Not sure if that was announced or not. Why is this an unprofessional question? Is it and easy one? No, but definitely not unprofessional

Just because Coach doesn’t think he needs to embarrass an 18 year old in front of several million people doesn’t mean he’s being sneaky, it means he’s exercising some tact. One week everybody’s mad at CMR for not defending his players, the next week everybody’s mad at CMR for not throwing them to the wolves. Good grief!

It was a reference to the sneaky way Richt has handled suspensions this season. Not one has been met with clearity or honesty this season, starting with game one. Are there more for this weekend?

            Like

            • With regard to the last three, since they were announced publicly several days in advance of the game, I presume you fault the process for lack of honesty. Do you have any proof that you were lied to, and if so, by whom? (Remember that both Richt and McGarity unambiguously denied that the timing was manipulated.)

A little advice I picked up a while back. After leaving a mediation meeting over a contract dispute my attorney said.
I have two things I need to say: “1.Never try and represent yourself when you’ve got me there to do it for you.
              2. Never argue with someone who went to one of the best law schools in the south to fine tune that art. That’s my job. We good?”
I have never forgotten that. I enjoyed the exchange here and I saw it coming.

Keep in mind too that when you say “sweeping under the rug,” that this is UGA where we actually do suspend players as opposed to most places where crimes, violations, and misbehavior truly is swept under the rug (cough, Gainesville, cough, Knoxville).

I’m touched. You guys make my soul feel better. Dog, gotta get me one of those sweat lodges. Been cravin’ some Navajo seeds. Or was that an assram?

Yall have no idea how accurate you were. Couldn’t get my “man” on the phone, so bright and early, the Amnesian had my degenerating arthritic ass up a ladder. Her precious plants have been saved for another year. She caught me looking longingly at one with my pipe and lighter in my hand. Then she told me it was some bullstar plant from Sud Am. that grew in crotches…..of trees. Didn’t finish until afternoon , but the smoked turkey sandwich hit the spot. Smoked it last night. Had the damndest time splicing a 12″x 12″ sheet of Bugler papers (don’t have a pipe that big) together to contain the smokin’ material to put inside the turkey (a technique I picked up from that Rasta dude on SNL years ago). As I was holding the turkey and banging his pygiostyl (pygidium in invertebrates) on a board , the ‘nesian asked what I was doing and I told her, “Making a blunt, honey”. She shrugged her shoulders and I went outside and smoked the turkey.

Anyway, never adult moment around here. Anyway, I would say “I’m touched” by yall’s concern, but the wife mutters that same phrase about me all the time except sometimes it’s in Tagalog. By the way, does anyone know what “babui” (bah boo ee) means?

Know you guys have rounded up all the interlopers so I’m gonna look for strays. Thanks again. All of you are DGDs. Beat Auburn!!

Reminds me. Saw a really hot Filipino in a Bimmy the other day. Smiled nicely and sweetly said “Go Dawgs”. My Amnesian wife said something to me about a “Filipino haircut” before the beauty sped off. Found out later from one of her friends that it’s ( the haircut) done with a knife and below the waist. Not sure I like this. My computer won’t even talk to me.Think some more smoked turkey is called for. If you hear of a Bobbick-emolated crime tomorrow, you might volunteer for the body part search. Looks like Bobbick’s, only smaller.

Where is this jerk who needs key-pounding? Not Skeptic Dawg! He’s just a harmless Techie acting like a dog. A Chihuahua.

Anyone noticed The Senator is getting feistier? His patience with the posers and whiners seems to be shortening as we draw closer to the Auburn game. Is irrational-giddy transmissable by keystroke ? Or is he introducing a cure for Dawg Ventitis? Either way, Go Dawgs! Skunk Auburn!.

Hope the Venters notice that the winning predictions show Auburn scoring points. Hope we don’t see any fake at-you-waries on here after the game with their flim-flam stats.

In Cojones absence allow me to respond, not that I could do justice to what he would say……Why the hell should CMR or any coach for that matter answer any reporter’s question that is pointedly phrased in a smart-assed manner? The implication of the question as asked is that UGA is some sort of rogue program that has guys doing things wrong all the time, particularly without meaningful punishment, when in fact the opposite is true. Go talk to Dooley at UT or former UF coach Irving Meyers if you want to make an insinuation like that because at least it would fit. Even then it is bad form to ask that question that way to them. Myers would punch you. Dooley would turn loose his momma on you. Besides, where exactly in the constitution does it say that a HC has to answer questions posed by reporters anyway. (See Spurrier, Steve).

Right…standing at about 6’6″ with full pads and falling forward 8 times, he’d only gain about 20 yards, depending on the bounce. Now if he stretches his arms forward, he might hit the 28 yards, so maybe the computers DO know something.

Way to go Coach Richt. I love that response. Sometimes when you ask a disrpectful and stupid question, you should expect a good answer. And the reporter got one. Just wonder if there was another reporter there who could translate it for him. In translation, no doubt, “kiss our ass.”

Coach Richt is without a doubt one of the most professionl coaches not only in the SEC, but the NCAA. He may never get to the record of a Bowden or a Paterno, and frankly I would not want him to. Coach Richt has a very clear compass in life. Sometimes I think he is a little to leant with players, but I can understand that. I am not on the field or in the arena…he sees, hears, senses, talks, and responds to these young men. We do not. And that is good, because most would not have a 10 year coaching record like his.

Do you think he would have let a situation like what has happened with Paterno, PSU staff, and PSU administration to happen. Not hardly. Think the Athens police would have been on the scene to peel Coach Richt off a coach with such conduct and acts. I do no think Coach Richt would let anyone abuse any kid without him beating your ass to a pulp. Hopefully, that reporter saw and heard the moral compass needle of Coach Richt. No doubt Coach Richt has a deep love and respect for the development of young men and women.

Go Dawgs, beat those War Damn Eagles!

“To say Richt’s seat in Athens was hot was a grave understatement. It was nearly engulfed in flames after that 45-42 loss to the Gamecocks in Week 2.”

I seem to remember, on this blog in particular, that the nation was suprisingly upbeat after the SC loss. It seemed to me that the temp of CMR’s seat lowered a bit, even after a loss. Am I remembering that wrong?

    Like

    • WH

Nope, I remembered the same thing when you mentioned it. I recalled looking at the score, feeling my heart sinking at how the game was lost, but saying, “At least they came to play.” Lots of mistakes and just really unfortunate bounces of the ball, but they weren’t deflated or crying from losing to Boise. And they looked WAY better against SC than they did the week prior. I wasn’t happy about losing, but I was a lot happier with our team (and Coach).

ANY of those weird things don’t happen (and there were about a half dozen) and the Dawgs win that game. Worst bad luck for one team I ever saw in a football game.

No I agree. I think everyone in the Bulldog nation realized SC got lucky as hell to win the game. GA beat them everywhere but turnover and scoreboard. But that last one is the only stat that ever matters.

But think about it, the team looked good and fluid that game. Offensively SC could not stop GA. Look how good that defense has played since then. Of course, they have actually played worse offenses than GA has played, with the exception of Arkansas. And like I told the gamecock dude last week, the only two teams they have played with a passing attack all season was GA and Arkansas and that defense is bad against the pass.

Re: The ESPN article on Richt
I am soooo sick of hearing last season referred to as “disastrous”. Yes, for a football program like Georgia 6-7 is a way, way sub-par season. However, it is not PAR for this coach. It was one stupid year, where we had a losing record by ONE game.
    And if
“…To say Richt’s seat in Athens was hot was a grave understatement”,
    then writing
“…It was nearly engulfed in flames after that 45-42 loss to the Gamecocks in Week 2.”
    is ridiculous hyperbole.

In fact, Richt’s seat was hotter after the Boise game, but we saw so much fight in those kids during the SC game, that Richt’s stock actually went up after SC, not down.

In my less polite moments, sometimes I wish the bastards would get what they want, and Richt would resign at the end of the year.
