It’s in the books that Georgia is the 2011 SEC Eastern Division champ, so however things play out from here, the DSW will have to incorporate the results into a new framework.
Here’s what we’re looking at now:
- Hold opponents under 17 points per game. As a team, Georgia is yielding 17.8 ppg.
- Finish at least +8 in turnover margin. Georgia’s turnover margin is +9.
- Average better than 380 yards per game on offense. Georgia’s offense is averaging 427.6 ypg.
- Finish in the top five in total defensive yardage. Georgia’s defense ranks third in total defense.
- Finish in the top three in first downs. Georgia is second in first downs.
- Finish no worse than third in passing yardage. Georgia is third in passing yardage.
- Finish no worse than third in sacks. Georgia is first in sacks.
Total offense and first downs took small hits, but that’s about it.
Shaving another point off scoring defense per game is going to be tough this week, though.
Get The Picture 
If we hold Tech to 7 points, we’ll be below the 17 PP/G mark. But Paul Johnson is a big enough dick to go for 2 and screw it all up. The solution: pitch a shutout.

If our guys stop their B back, we may hold their offense scoreless. Unlikely, but not far fetched either. Our defense is made to stop the run and we have the athletes to make it happen.
I have been impressed with the way Shawn Williams comes up and destroys fools. Our tackling has been better this year. No doubt.
I hope the officiating crew calls the chop blocks, because we know they are coming.
Tech will fumble. Let’s hope old lady luck is on our side when they do.

I can honestly see how we’ll hold them to a low score. Key #1 to stopping Johnson’s offense is to plug the dive up. I doubt we’ll see any of their B-backs gaining much all day with Jenkins/Geathers in the middle. I also doubt they’re going to run it much to Jarvis Jones’ side because he’ll be blowing pitch men up all day long. I feel like we’ve got the personnel up front to keep the option under control. They’ll get some first downs, but we won’t give up cheap yardage on the ground. As long as we make them grind it down the field, we’ll get our share of stops. The most likely way I see them gaining rushing yards would be breaking a tackle on the weakside perimeter after the pitch.
Where I am worried, strangely enough, is their passing game. Our safties have been BAD this year about sucking in on halfback pass-type plays, and I can see them cheating and letting a receiver behind them. Washington isn’t a great passer by any means, but he can complete lobs when the safeties are all charging the line of scrimmage. If our DBs can stay confident enough in our line and backers to control the run, we should be able to bottle them up very well.

I totally agree with your 2nd point about the passing game. Every big pass on the Dogs this year have come on trick or misdirection plays which we are susceptible to because they are so aggressive.
I know traditionally they stop the dive, but I think beating the $h!t out of Washington is the key. He is their top runner and if we can get him wobbly and make some bad pitches or throws, it allows us to create some turnovers.

If ever there was a game that Kwame and Big John need to see significant time on the field, AT THE SAME TIME, this should be the game. The cornerstone of the Triple Option is the dive play. Stop the HB/FB dive and Tech is forced to try shit out on the edges. Beef up our line with Kwame and Jenkins. Tie 4 of Tech’s offensive linemen up blocking those two. Then you free our LBs up to seal off the edges. Play man coverage all day in the secondary. Simple game plan. And after the game is over, we can FIRE MARK RICHT before the SECCG.

While I’d love to ponder stats, player injuries, Bobo play calling…whatever…my mind is reflecting the loss of Larry Munson. How many kids including myself grew up throwing touchdown passes in the backyard quoting Larry Munson. Listening to Larry call the game fishing on a Saturday with your dad. I could go on and on. Larry was GA football. May the good Lord be with ya Larry, he’ll be sorely missed

9-2. Sitting outside the top ten. Stuck around 13 / 14. East Division champs. 9 wins in a row. An alleged weak schedule. Dropped 2 against top ranked teams
LSU, Alabama, and Arkansas are 1-3 in BCS.
One of those three goes to SEC championship game to defeat the Dawgs.
One of those three will be National Champion.
Saw some “computer” poll yesterday that had Baylor ahead of the Dawgs at #14 in that poll.
The essence…well, none of the Dawgs stats mean anything among the sports people and the rankers. Think Carolina is better.
This Dawg team gets no respect.
What they need is a regular season 10 wins. Do that Dawgs, and let’s see how another trip to the Dome goes.

The reason we don’t have a #1 ranking right now is because our Head Coach is not named Brian Van Gorder. If he was our head coach, we’d score 50+ ppg on average and limit our opponents to -3 ppg. We would have ZERO losses and would always have the #1 recruiting class in the nation. Respect? Ha. Respect? If you want respect, you need to get on the FIREMARKRICHT bandwagon. There is still room. Ignore feature, please. Yes, I can do it by my current method but it feels better to know I am never exposed to the negative, anti-Georgia vibes. Plus, it would remind me daily that even though fools abound, there is always a sanctuary, like taking the channel number for MSNBC, etc. out of my television options.
