Kiffin watch: win one for the Sabanator

Southern Cal’s win over Oregon puts Junior in a nostalgic mood.

Lane Kiffin looked like the kid that he is, at least in terms of coaching experience.

Sitting on a trunk outside the USC locker room late Saturday, the Trojans’ coach considered the mess he and his team had created. Not just here where they stared down the nation’s fastest offense and ended the nation’s longest home winning streak, but around the entire nation.

“I wonder if Nick left me a phone message,” Kiffin said. “He likes me.”

No word yet on whether Mike Slive intends to issue a public reprimand for old times’ sake.

If Saban had time for that shit, I’m sure he’d be deeply annoyed that little Laney thinks he’s done Nick a favor. If he had time for that shit, that is.

I really miss the spark that Lane added to the conference. No one will ever be able to take his place. I can’t wait to hear what he says when Irvin takes tOSU job.

Can’t take the job. He’s with his espn family that he quit college ball for. And quit typing the word “Bama”. It’s almost wax nostalgia time for him and that word represents a setback in his recovery. The SECCG is coming up. Oh, be still mine heart!

  3. Mike Slive

    All is forgiven kid.

Lane looked rather sporty in that white toboggan, too. Reminded me of when Tuberville donned that huge Texas-burnt-orange parka in West Virginia while the rest of the team/staff froze. Good times.

Sure because he became SEC with the little over a year he spent in the conference. Give me a break.

Can’t Lane get a little love for being the best smart-ass ever?

spurrier vs lane : i have to take the old ball coach based on career accomplishment ; lane is a promising newcomer but lacks the wins to go w the hubris …and hauled ass to the weak west coast vs the real mens league

  6. Always Someone Else's Fault

If Chip Kelly had Kiffin’s media sensibilities, he would have blamed his fear of the Pac-12’s officiating crew for taking the air out of the ball and playing for a 40 yard field goal.

I hate Kiffin. But I hated the idea of Oregon in the title game more. Talk about conflicted.
