Feldman’s list need some revisions. I think Gus is a pretty good OC, but it’s pretty safe to say, he isn’t a genius without a superstud QB. And I wonder how much of Bama’s D really rests on Smart’s shoulders. Finally, he wasn’t ranked, but mentioned- McElwain. There is a belief gaining steam that his offense is very mediocre and simple and simply living off all the talent that the Tide has recruited.

Glad to see an Auburn person finally acknowledge that their defense wasn’t anything special last year.

Though I have to wonder, if defensive genius Nick Saban can keep the train rolling with assistants running the defense (Muschamp, Smart), why can’t defensive genius Gene Chizik? Is Saban a better Coach than Chizik, Pawl?

My guess is that somebody has been betting on Hawaii to cover all season and finally got angry and decided to fire off a letter after coming up with a ridiculous conspiracy theory.

Then again, I haven’t watched a single Hawaii game this year so I couldn’t say for sure. I’m glad they’ve gone back to being irrelevant rather than making the rest of college football waste time arguing over whether they belong or not. Now, if only Boise State could do the same.

Have to admit the thought of point shaving hit my mind last year and this year for plays (by other teams) that looked a little more than skunky. Last week, an ACC team special teams receiver did a poor job of acting like he couldn’t catch the ball. Fortunately his teammate recovered.I didn’t have money on the game, but knew they hadn’t covered. Just one example. Hated that the thought crossed my mind, but if that’s occurring anywhere, we,as fans, should be mindful and help to stop it early. History has shown that cheatin’ creep happens.

    – Boom is doing a fine job making Florida go Boom. Dooley continues to raise the ridiculous factor with orange pants and an orange dog. Next placement is for Kirby Smart.

I must admit I was skeptical of your work originally, especially after Pat Dye proved to be a double agent, but your co-opting and placement of Bill Lewis began to give you some credibility, your work in this new decade has been splendid.

Did you want the Nursie With a Whip, the tangled haired Metal Jacket Transseducer or the Quiet Redhead who leaves wet spots on motorcycle seats? We have an all-you-can-eat Thanksgiving Special with reciprocating tongue and vacuum. Hairdos include easy-to-grip double buns (that German look) or the rasta foreign with the tie-behind-your-back braids. Stay tuned because we have more in Coming Attractions.

Who the hell is Rob Pate? He should fax his resume to the AU “ALL IN” Family Athletic Department for the D coordinator position.

McElwain is a fine OC. He developed offenses at all his stops and especially at SDSU. Now howrver, he has come to a graveyard for OCs as his boss is of the Dooley persuasion and a dust lover. Personally am glad that Saban has a weakness for air travel.

I am glad Grantham isn’t on the list. Let him stay below the radar as long as possible.

Agreed. I think Grantham is too emotional to be a good head coach. He needs more seasoning. At least four or five more years. AD’s, you really don’t want him as your head coach, getting all mad at you with his vein popping out of his neck like that and his eyes getting all bulgy.
Manny Diaz impresses the heck out of me. Don’t know if he’d be a good head coach…not saying he won’t…but he does a great job where ever he goes. And quickly with “not his players”.
I think Kirby’s stock got hurt a little by the “success” Boom has had this year. Top programs might want him to get some head coaching experience at a lower level before taking him.

Heck, Rob’s just trying to get a link on “Get the Picture” for his blog.

His blogging partner is my eye doctor. I want to punch him in the face every time I visit and wind up giving him money. There’s obviously something wrong with me for continuing to go back.

Could be worse. When I first went to a recommended dentist in Ca, his receptionist had info on me from the friend who had recommended me. She mentioned the degree from Georgia and said it had caught the dentist’s eye. She said that I should be honored because I would be the first patient in his newly prepared dental suite. The dentist even greeted me himself and ushered me to the new suite. It wasn’t until he had me comfortable and laid the chair back did this “special treatment” click. On the ceiling was a 4′ x 6′ print of the Swamp filled with gator fans.

Thought about biting him during the procedure, but was afraid of getting “Dingy Fever” that they contract there. He and I became friends enough to visit each other and heft a few at McGinty’s. He could afford to since this was early to mid 90s and UGA looked like shit. And for that game, about 30 of his friends showed up, -every year. I ask all Dawg fans to forgive me ever sharing a beer with a lizard. It should give you some comfort that God already punished me. BD, you aren’t the only one who has sinned.

When i heard about how there is now an investigation going on about Hawaii players point-shaving the first thing that popped into my mind was: Why isn’t there an investigation going on looking at the SEC refs and their actions in determining the outcomes of SEC ballgames?

Per Tate: “Auburn does a good job for the most part against a pro-style offense that wants to run it down your throat,” he said. “That’s one thing Coach Roof has shown. He can shut down a great tailback.”

Good thing Crowell & Thomas aren’t great or Auburn might’ve shut them down.

    To handle chop blocks:

1- move laterally when they lunge at you
2- drive them to the ground as they launch

  22. RedD

Hard to prep your D for cut blocks, because you risk injury during practice.

Best to use a lot of hand drills, where you get low, hit them with your hands extended, shove them to the ground, and then move laterally to the side that gives you the best chance to make the play.
