- Kentucky beat writer ranks this year’s coaching jobs in the SEC. I’m pretty much in agreement, although Richt would move up with a win Saturday.
- Here’s somebody who obviously didn’t watch Corch’s last season at Florida.
- And Mike Bianchi continues to tee off on Urban Meyer.

I wouldn’t think it’d be that big a deal to Georgia fans if he did. I mean, when you’re offered a head coaching job, there’s nothing wrong with taking it. I was upset when he decided to stay as defensive coordinator at Alabama instead of coming over to rescue his alma mater’s defense, but frankly, I am now pleased beyond measure that he didn’t come because I think the guy we have now has few peers. Also, we know for certain that Nick Saban isn’t making the calls for our guy.
No, the rumor was that Kirby wanted to see if Richt would be fired and then he hoped to be a candidate for our job. Well, that wouldn’t have happened anyway, but now he has to be pretty certain that Richt is coaching Georgia in 2012. So why not go to another SEC school and build up his resume? If he is successful, he’d be in position to Tuberville them if the Georgia job ever did come open and if that really is what he wants to do. I have no idea if it is or not, I don’t know if he still loves Georgia. Muschamp doesn’t, maybe Kirby doesn’t either. Either way, have fun trying to clean up that mess in Oxford.

Yeah, but they won’t talk about it. Glum. Closed-mouth. “Don’t wanna talk anymore about football.” They are more pathetic than you can read about. A fellow I’ve known with a PhD from FU and have met for a cold one every week(for the last 6 yrs) during football season and beyond mysteriously turned down my invite to meet this last week. He was busy at the time purchasing beer less than a mile from the watering hole and was “going home” immediately with no time for dropping in at the bar. This from a retired and widowed FU scolar who always was gleeful about the subject of FU football, Tebow and Meyer. Guess the $40 he lost to me on FU’s games this year hurt his imbibing budget, even though I’ve freely picked up his bill using his money. Funny how, after ignoring me for years about Meyer’s two-faced, lieing, farce at excuses, it can lead a guy to turn down free beer.
You notice after a little bit of time, that many jolly and openly expressive FU people walk around with a frown on their face. It gets worse every day. They turn their heads when I greet them with my Dawg cap jauntily perched on my head or, as now is the case, my Dawg stocking cap pulled down with the big “G” prominently on the forehead. They can all go suck lemons.

Speaking of which, we haven’t seen much of the Barners around here lately after Coach Richt got his 7th win against them in 11 tries (6 of the last 7).

Georgia’s a populous state with plenty of recruits to go around. In Smart’s case, he’d still have to convince the kid to go to Ole Miss – over Bama, UGA, etc. Hard sell IMO.

I can’t imagine Smart not taking the UGA job if it’s offered to him whenever Richt decides to leave (in another 10 years I hope). If he did decline, though, then fuck him; Georgia will be able to pick and choose whatever hot commodity coach is there at the time.

That it’s already obvious LSU and Alabama are the best two teams in the country does not render the SEC Title Game “moot.”
Here lies the problem with the BCS. In any other competition, be it checkers or pro football, the winner of a head to head contest is considered the better opponent. But with the BCS if Georgia wins Sat. they will not be viewed as the better opponent. In the BCS the better opponent is open to subjectivity depending on the whims of the talking media heads(most notably ESPN’s) and the polls. If you want to call the winner of the BCS bowl the BCS winner that’s fine, but IMO they are not the NC because there is currently no objective system to determine that.

The part of the Auburn article that stood out to me wasn’t that Auburn continues to cheat. (I mean, no duh. They pulled off the biggest heist in college football history in plain view of everyone. Why would they quit while they were ahead? That would be silly and even slightly scrupulous in a weird way). It was this line:
…the Tigers were one of the nation’s least productive teams, finishing 104th nationally in total offense.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Malzahn shoulda got out while the gettin’ was good.

Really like the reason Will Friend gave for Dallas Lee’s rapid recovery. Good Dawgs, one and all. I think there is major fight left in those players after the scheduled season. Noticed the Bud calendar’s last game for FU has disappeared. Wonder why? It will be interesting to see what’s printed for next year.
