A sure sign I am getting old.

Georgia’s newest recruit waxes nostalgic about the good old days… of 2007.

“When I was in seventh grade watching Knowshon Moreno, I knew that I wanted to go to Georgia,” he said.

Sigh.  I fear it’s only a matter of time until I start growling at people standing in front of me at Sanford to sit down so I can watch the game.

His grade point average is almost the same as his 40 time. How many recruits can claim that?

We keep getting older, but they’re always 19.

  7. feeding birds and watching the weather channel are also sure signs–or so I have been told by my younger friends-remembering the celebration after we went up and beat Michigan probably another sign

My habits as well. Think we could ask the Senator to designate an “Old Fart’s Corner” where we can blog our UGA memories? When we get down on things we could have a “Time Out Corner”? When bad things happen health-wise we could have an “All In Corner”?

You know, the funny thing about this though is that this is exactly the reason traditional powerhouses enjoy success year in and year out. Marshall was in 7th grade and sees Knowshon Moreno being Knowshon Moreno, and decides he wants to come to Georgia. 5 years later, he’s doing just that. Those are the kind of luxuries that the Johnny Come Lately programs don’t get to enjoy.

For some reason that hasn’t worked out for Notre Dame.

Probably because Notre Dame isn’t very popular amongst the younger crowd. The exodus of people from the midwest to the south, coupled with the fact that Notre Dame hasn’t really been nationally relevant in years and the fact that the SEC is the premier conference have kinda left Notre Dame out in the cold.

I saw a recent article touching on Notre Dame’s fanbase…I can’t remember the exact numbers, but for folks over the age of 35 or so, the Irish were a major player. For anyone younger than that, they were practically nonexistent.

Oh, and, also, no one has watched NBC in, like, twenty years.

That too. The question is, do folks not watch Notre Dame because they’re on NBC, or do they not watch NBC because they’re showing Notre Dame?

A little bit o’ this and a little bit o’ that… Admittedly, about the only thing I watch on NBC is just to see if the Irish lose. Well, I do kinda like that new show Grimm.

This comment reminds me off Howardstern. He got high rating from those who liked him. But he got higher ratings from his detractors.

I raise hell at my grandsons all the time about the things they do. Then I think back to when I was that age. And memory sets it…do not be too tough, you were there one time. Think we forget that about the players , their daily life outside of sports, classes, friends, family, and etc. Big demand on their time and expectations. I’ve never told my grandsons about some of the things I did…would be embarrassing, but they have never told me all their stuff either.
Winning games is important. But when I watch them on a field or TV I like to see their eyes and faces and their interactions with peers…you want to see that fun, enjoyment, and personal satisfaction.
I have friend who is a doctor. He told me awhile back if he knew it would be this tough getting old he would have taken a lot damn better care of himself when younger.
ESPN writers think our bowl game with MSU is the 4th best of this season. Many would agree with that.

I love it that KM was inspired by Knowshon. On top of being a top talent, Knowshon made it obvious how much he just got a kick out of being a Dawg. I believe that KM will have the same effect on some future Dawg as well.

I remember being at my seventh grade middle school football awards banquet and sneaking off into the teachers break room to watch Bobo, Edwards, and Ward light up the Gators. My head coach was a Gators fan too….made for a great night. Then I remember being a junior in high school and me and my friend had seperate tickets from our folks for the 2000 UT game. Went and sat in the student section and was wide eyed for the next four hours, eventually ending up carrying a goal posts down Lumpkin and breaking off to head back to me my parents with them none the wiser. I only filled out on college application after that night…

Remember it well, an indelible impression on my young soul; I was 6 or 7 at the time, at the game with my parents, juking my tail off to JB, slipped on the stand & busted my ass. Good times!!!

Oh crap, will he want Knowshon’s number? He and Boo couldn’t be in the backfield together! I kid, I kid. And I swear to God, if this becomes a rumor in three weeks, someone’s getting hurt.
