Bobby Petrino’s defensive coordinator for the past four seasons “resigned” his position yesterday. I’m guessing he walked into his office and found his resignation letter taped to his chair.
Lowell George knows what that sounds like.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
I’m guessing Mike Zimmer won’t be getting an interview.

Did you notice the similarity in the stories in the linked article (“taped to his chair”) about the circumstances surrounding Petrino leaving the Falcons and Granny Holtz leaving the Jets? Click on Holtz in the article and it will tell you. What a hoot!

Arkansas Off Coordinator is now HC at UAB.
Two key positions gone at Arky.

Working for Petrino must be a real bitch, because I can’t think of a single reason to jump into that dumpster fire at UAB.

I was just about to post “Who has it worse Robinson getting fired or Garrick McGee getting hired at UAB”?

Where is UGA Illuminati on this board? — his/her/its tentacles reach further than we once believed. Perhaps the revamped SEC schedule pops the Hogs on before 2014?

Is it my imagination or is Texas offensive line kinda a mess?
(Vaguely related to topic…sort of….kinda)

FWIW, local paper gave SS a passing grade and noted he inherited a mess, used a true frosh, RS frosh and still got their running game improved.
Just saying…

Sometimes a change in venue is enough to revitalize someone. SS was highly regarded when he came to Athens, yet never really got it done. Maybe he’ll get it done in Austin.

He’ll have to pray Mr. Brown isn’t sacked before he gets the chance. But I suppose the Big12(10) will be substantially easier to navigate next season.

Way off topic, but I still miss the dulcet tones of Lowell George. Thanks.

Agreed. I enjoy his music. Gone too soon.

I knew a musician whose band played as the opener for a Feat show in San Francisco.
He said that he hung out with them for a day, and watched George drink a gallon jug of port wine.
What a waste.
When Bonnie Raitt sat in with them, you had live music at its pinnacle (saw them on my birthday one year in Memphis).

It is always appropriate on the 4th day of Zappadan to recognize Lowell George in “Directly From My Heart,” in honor of the way Bobby prefers to communicate with his coordinators and Das Hat

And sadly, another truly world-class mustache meets its Div.1 end. I hope it turns up elsewhere, or else we’ll have to rely upon Chavis to pick up the slack within the league.
