Don’t forget who said “I love you” first.

Just so we’re clear on the Tater Tot to Akron story about which of the two is the more desperate:

According to the source, Bowden reached out to Akron.

And this is pure comedy gold.

… Landing Bowden is a coup for the Mid-American Conference school and gives Akron a high-profile football coach second only to Ohio State’s Urban Meyer in the state.

The punchline is that’s after a former Akron player/coach turned down the school’s offer.

This is great news for the bottom half of the top 1% in OH that Corch doesn’t recruit.

How can you be “high profile” when you’re only 5′ 3″?

Well, ya know, maybe Corch wanted Tater Tot close by so he could send his discards the same way he did at Florida.

You have to admit Terry Bowden has been successful wherever he has coached. I am surprised it took so long for him to land a job…even if he is a midget.

    “Landing Bowden is a coup”

According to this Alabama fan, Tater knows what a coup is all about both coming and going

I am not sure if you are referring to the alleged personal scandals at Auburn, or if you are saying he took over pretty good programs at Auburn or UNA. But you have to concede that he had immediate success. He went undefeated at Auburn in his first season despite installing a new coaching staff and offense. That’s an accomplishment even if it was Pat Dye’s players. Most coaches would fall back on a transition excuse and lose some games. At UNA, he rattled of 10 straight wins and a #1 ranking to begin his coaching stint there before losing in the playoffs. I was actually a student at Stamford during his coaching days there and attended many games. He took a terrible Samford team to a 9-1 record in his first season. The later led them to the I-AA semi-finals Sorry to break it to you, but the guy can coach.

    • Never said he couldn’t. But he can’t recruit. He’s got personal baggage.

Plus, lately he’s been pulling in D-1 talent at a Div. II school and getting blown out in the playoffs.

There’s a reason nobody’s been knocking on his door.

I have wondered why no schools were interested (especially West Virginia), so maybe you’re right.

If he’s been pulling in D-1 talent at a Div. II school, doesn’t that mean he can recruit?

        • He’s been taking in kids who were kicked out of big programs and didn’t want to sit out a year. That’s not exactly a winning strategy at a MAC school.

In fairness, Senator, the reason Tater Tot left Auburn wasn’t lack of coaching ability or recruiting ability. It was that he wouldn’t play ball with the pay for play scam that was going on. His plan was to phase it out by paying those that were on the pad until they left but not adding more, essentially phasing it out. That did not sit well with those in a position to influence things and when a year happened where Auburn lost several early season games they planned to use that to can him at the end of the season. So Tot walked.

Wasn’t he sleeping with one of the big wigs daughters while at AU, it was the daughter of the AD, University President, or one of their big boosters? I know I remember hearing something about that back when he left AU.

Why don’t we just say it was a trifecta of daughters and call it a day?

Holy Smoke! This is our Rodney Garner that’s mentioned? Talking about knowing where the Auburn bodies are buried. And he escaped to Bulldog Land? I am the poster child for the word “Naive”.

Or, similarly, Spanky -OR- Yosemite Sam (w/o mustache) -OR- Porky Pig (maybe a bit vindictive..but Porky is basically a decent cartoon guy). The characterizations flow so easily.
