My season’s end Mumme Poll ballot

Here we go.

  • Alabama*
  • Arkansas
  • Boise State
  • LSU
  • Michigan
  • Oklahoma State
  • Oregon
  • Southern Cal
  • Stanford
  • Wisconsin

  • Weirdly enough, the only change I could bring myself to make after bowl season was to give Alabama the tiebreaker.
  • Tough call for the last spot between Wisconsin and South Carolina, but I just think the Badgers would win that head-to-head match up.
  • It’s amazing to see how much the computers like three-loss Oklahoma.
  • I wonder how different everyone’s final rankings would look if Boise State had made that field goal in the TCU game.
  • Also getting consideration:  Michigan State and TCU.

    Arkansas #2? Seriously? Over the team that beat them by 40 and lost only 1?

    Senator, had to go Mich St over Mich cuz of the head to head and I was impressed, overall, with their defense in the bowl game. It was better or as good as advertised I thought – and really good at stuffing the run up the middle (ha! see what I did there?).
    Also I gave LSU the nodd over bammer. I think 13-1 is better than 12-1…I think.

      LSU = SECCG + 13 wins.

      Bama = 1 and 1 vs. LSU

      LSU > Bama

      Or does the regular season not count?! 😉

        Confirmation confirmed. Thanks!

        It does …unless—> the team you beat by three points in triple overtime during the regular season ends up ranked number two and eligible to play the number one team. Again. Also if said team doesn’t allow you to cross the 50 yard line until the fourth quarter and holds you scoreless. Then and only then is the regular season game disregarded.

          They need to just keep playing games until one team wins 2 in a row.

          Well then they should have both played OSU and Stanford. Then the winners could play… Oregon? No, LSU beat them already. So did Stanford, but The Cardinal (WTF is THAT anyway???!) lost too.

          Wait…doesn’t a playoff fix this?

      Good respect for a worthy opponent, Nate.

    Your point about Boise’s missed FG shows how tenuous the line between perceived success and shortfall is drawn. You can say the same about our missed FG, or Stanford, or Bama on November 5, or dozens of others where a kicker made, or missed, a FG during the season. It is why the determination of the “best” team will always be arguable….playoff or not.

  4. Someone left Bama off their ballot entirely. And it wasn’t me. And I hate Bama.
