Saturday morning buffet

The first of the offseason… sigh.

  • Hot Cougar Action… I bet Mike Leach is gonna hear that phrase more than he wants.
  • Nice presser, Dabo.
  • Fire Nick Saban!
  • Don’t sleep on Missouri, SEC East fans.
  • The NCAA may not be able to figure out what to do about the $2000 athlete stipend, but there’s no problem with the Mark Emmert contract extension.  Figures.
  • Zach Mettenberger on being LSU’s next starting quarterback:  “It’s gonna be like getting a Maserati when you turn 16.”  That usually doesn’t end well, does it?
  • Phil Kornblut on that Gurley-to-Clemson story he broke yesterday:  Oops.

Dabo’s going to kick the reporter’s ass. Then he’s going to kick Kornblut’s.

    RE: Mettenberger

    Maybe he said Mazda-rati?

  3. Gurley to UGA! Another great pick-up by the world’s dumbest coaching staff, wouldn’t you say Raleigh St Clair?

I’m glad I’m not the only one worried about Missouri. It’s unfortunate that UGA is the first (home) game Missouri will play as a member of the SEC. On paper we are a better team, but we know how that has worked out lately: (see: Ok State-2009 & Colorado-2010)

“It’s gonna be like getting a Maserati when you turn 16.”

LSU is more like a Mack Truck, without the bulldog.

  6. Go Dawgs!

Tennessee fans dispute your theory that this is the first Saturday of the offseason.

Boy, there is some Grade A, US Prime, revisionist history, truth stretching to fit the argument in that Nick Saban article. If there’s one trait truly shared by almost all the coaches mentioned in the article, it’s that the programs ate them up.

Fire Saban was a nice synopsis of an intrigueing set of circumstances after climbing the heights of CFb. Now what in hell could cause the commonality of such events after winning the NC? Player egos, recruiting mistakes, will to win as a team concept, loss of talent to the NFL, coaching laziness or all of the foregoing reasons in a mix/match of circumstances can all be highlighted, but ,if true, could also be prevented as reasons for perch-loss in CFb. Not pointed out, but should be, is the question “What are all the circumstances that must be avoided/come together in order to attain the crown?”

Tamny also forgot to mention “Luck”.

That may be the stupidest article about football ever written. I guess Paul Bryant never existed. But if he did, where exactly did he coach?

Different time and rules. Bear kept winning because he could recruit as many players as Alabama could afford and that was a lot. The changes finally caught up to even the Bear. I personally think Saban will keep winning because of two things, 1. he is driven and 2 he oversigns and kicks his problems to the curb. He won’t have the problems of mere mortals. While we have not won the big one we have evidenced many of the problems that the writer pointed out.

Query: Why is our HC and staff not 1. driven and 2. why do we not oversign and kick the problems to the curb, too?

Dabo, the East Coast Gundy. Clemson deserves Kornblut with all the unmatching reasons. How high are they projected this year to disappoint? I don’t get their ability to get high profile players with so many not being coached up to their precollege greatness. You would think that the incoming players would shy away.

So we have to start next year by proving our bones on Mizzou? Sounds like a plan to get the testiness into the engine early. Does anyone know where you can get a faux tiger rug? Complete with fake head? With a dogbone in it’s ear? With a forged iron parson’s chair cage to sit over it and spill beer on it and generally desecrate it during that game?

Just trying to get my SEC face on early for next year.

God bless you , Cojones. I like the intensity. We also welcomed the cocks to the conference in ’92. I remember it vividly. We were down 6-0 at the half. Garrison and Mack rolled in the second half an we won 28-6. This one migh look similar.

      • Cojones

Hope so. We can give them respect on the field at their school, but my game hardon starts much earlier when I’m not going to be in the stands. We need to give those boys a big SEC welcoming party.

Sic’em Dawgs. They are the “SHOW MEs” so lets “SHOW THEM”.

Senator, in case I missed an earlier post from you regarding such, the Ft. Worth-Star Telegram is reporting this morning that Oklahoma defensive secondary coach Willie Martinez is resigning due to his desire to pursue other coaching interests. Mike Stoops likely showed him to the door.

I think Mizzou will be a stout test for us and others, but this…

“To put it another way, the SEC East is the Big East compared to the Big 12.”

    …is just adorable.

I guesss ZM is too young to remember the lessons of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

Kornblut is simply the latest unwitting pawn to be used by the UGA Illuminati. The premature posting of the Clemmins version of the Gurley story was not an accident. It was [red &] black opps designed to mess with the minds (such as they are) of the Tiger faithful. A little psych job on Friday the 13th. Please don’t ask me how I came by this information…

Anybody who isn’t worried about Mizzou didn’t pay attention during UGA losses to Ok State, Colorado, Central Florida, Boise State & Mich State over the past couple of years. No one’s going to lay down and die for us, and because our Dawgs seem to be viewed as a stepping stone to the next level, those teams get prepped for us in a big way. Mo will prepare for UGA the entire offseason with maximum intensity and respect for the caliber of program we should be. Based on recent historical evidence, we will not prepare for them the same way. We will have to win with a talent edge and a couple of breaks or not at all. I guess this sounds pretty pessimistic 9 months prior to the event, but I fear it’s also reality.

This does have the aroma of Okie State all over again except that it is a conference game meaning it means more. BTW, where can somebody get some of that “Hot Cougar Action?”
