Seriously, AP, was it really that slow a news day for you?

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23

Maybe these pretentious eggheads should worry more about the rising cost of a college education that is keeping more and more students from obtaining a degree.

Oh boy, one my my favorite subjects. I’m a professor, ergo I’m smarter than you. I’d like to see the roll call of subjects these savants teach. Like a bunch of people, who need help to fill out a 1040EZ and balance a checkbook, have anything to offer the athletics business.

Of course we don’t agree on every little thing. But we probably can agree that Springtime for Reagan will soon be in Tampa

Tampa, which is not the Might As Well Be Alabama part of Florida

Well. Agreed. Parts of Florida are still southern.
I’m a little skpetical, though, of the part that’s labelled “Winter Home of the 1%.” I lived in Coral Gables for about 3 years in the early 80’s, and when I drove north through the western areas of North Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie, there were dozens of trailer parks loaded to the gills with blue collar retirees. Maybe the lack of state income tax has changed the demographics since then.

The map may not be exactly to scale. From what I know, the 99% is excluded from the easternmost portion of those counties which include the barrier island, lagoon, waterfront and golf course properties except when they are there to work. After that, they go back to their trailer parks.

There is a saying among us working folks.
“Those who can, can; those who can’t teach.”
Now I had some very good professors at UGA and teachers in high school. I am grateful for their craft and what I took from them. One of the best I had was an instructor in a technical school. Even though I have professional degrees, I had always want some formal instruction in construction. He was the best. Why, because he taught from the end. $$$$s. Understand what I mean. He taught “Time”…”nickel pushing a dime”. You had to have your knowledge, skills, and experience out there ready to go at a seconds notice.
Professors…slow, out of touch, think some committee or government agency or committee can make it right and workable. Sounds like more costs and rules to me.
Just leave the programs alone for awhile. Not perfect, but very good, beneficial, and fun.
Paterno. A man who should have retired from coaching two decades ago. In the end he hurt PSU, its alums, its students, faculty, and teams. Makes you wonder if he stayed on to protect himself and certain coaches from the current allegation. Bowden, Paterno, or any others…not good to create jobs and positions for your family where you are working. Let them cut their own path.
Let’s keep the professors out of this. Just because they teach on campus to players does not make them the deciders. Think that always comes down to the alums and their support of the university and programs they want.

Two Catholics, a Mormon and a really old guy walk into a strip bar in Tampa for the lap-dance matinee to prepare for tonight’s awesome debate. They each look forward to a time in 2013 to:
(a). A Gingrich White House when multiple marriages are sign of Presidential manliness
(b). A Santorum White House when sweater vests with flag pins are the Uniform of the Day;
(c). A Romney White House when Believing in America is mandatory;
(d.) An Old Guy’s White House when indentured servitude is meh
(e). Four More Years?
