This is Georgia Tech recruiting.

Paul Johnson's powers of persuasion ain't what they used to be.

Three links which sum up the state of the program:

  • Michael Felder’s takedown of the hypocrisy of Johnson’s “no visit once you commit” policy is worth a read.
  • “Over the past five years, the Jackets have landed only two of the 74 Georgia recruits ranked in ESPN’s top 150.”  And both of those were signed by Chan Gailey.
  • It’s tough to persuade commits to stay loyal when you’re penalized by the NCAA due to recruiting violations from having contact with them.

Just amazing.

Apparently, they didn’t get Mark Bradley’s memo that Johnson is the greatest coach of our era.

Best part of this story? The fact that Tech fans were making fun of Mark Richt for his inadvertent “butt dials” on his Blackberry. Turns out Johnson doesn’t know how to text, either!

But… but Coach Johnson is so smart!

On a serious note, If Johnson’s scheme met Gailey’s recruiting, I think GaTech would be quite pesky to us and might become a perennial ACC contender.

I guess we’ll never find out though because Johnson’s recruiting is a joke, even for Tech. Long live the triple option! …and horrific defense!

for the life of me, i can’t find the article but espn had an article the other day that highlighted the SEC’s 2012 non-conference schedule and listed for UGA: buffalo, FAU, and GSU. no mention of georgia tech at all. it was hilarious.

Well the Techie’s are going to find out how the genius’s offense performs with really mediocre players.

Does CPJ continue to recruit kids that have already committed to other schools?
