Hines Ward’s ultimate dream

    1. He nees to hang up the cleats, NOW. He is in jeopary of going Evander Holyfield if he endures another hit like the one he got from Ray Lewis this year. I seriously wonder about his long-term health after this season, and I believe that the Steelers recognize that as well.

    2. Coach Richt should offer him a G.A. job tomorrow. Gets him on the staff to recruit without having to pay him and gives Hines a little while to get acclimated to today’s college game.

    Is there anything this guy can’t do? He plays ball, commentates, dances, wants to coach, and with a football player role in the next Batman movie, he’s going Hollywood. That’s awesome.

    I’d love to see what Hines could do with recruiting.

    I love Hines, he’s the only reason I pull for the Steelers. I would love for him to help coach the Dawgs. But, I would hate to someday see on this blog a bunch of people talking shit about him like they do Bobo.

    Hines was “Tripped” before Trip was born. If UGA ever had a greater “TEAM me” player I don’t know abut them. QB, RB and finally WR and never anything but a smile. DGD. If he coached the WR’s they sure as heck would know how to block.

      I don’t think he was being “tripped”. He wouldn’t have played QB if Bobo didn’t have a broken leg. And while he could play RB, WR was obviously a better fit (his long term success in the NFL proves that was a better position for him).

        Let’s be fair to Kiante though. Kiante moved around because he was a team player and did what he was asked to do. It is a testament to Kiante’s character that he made those moves for the team and at least publicly Kiante never grumbled about it. Let’s call it something else, because we should be positive about what Kiante Tripp did.

        And yes – Kiante was following in the footsteps of guys like Hines or Champ Bailey. Hines played QB because there was no other option due to injuries at QB for UGA but Hines. Heck the dude ended up setting a bunch of records in the Peach Bowl while he had a broken bone in the wrist of this throwing hand.

        If Hines goes retire soon and would like to get involved in coaching at UGA then hopefully there will be an offer. Our WR’s will learn how to block, catch, run and play tough.

    Not being prescient enough to ever predict that Ward would have the pro career he’s had, I would, in his UGA days, mutter to friends and family thusly: “the guy’s smart as Hell, a fighter and can play any skill position, so I bet he’ll wind up coaching and even be the Dawgs’ head coach some day.” I figured he’d have been walking sidelines some years and maybe even a Dawg OC by this point. Instead, he’s a friggin’ Steeler institution! Now, I’m sure he wouldn’t think twice about starting from the bottom rung and working his way up. And it is indeed a nice dream: Coach CMR hangs it up in 10 years or so, and we finally have a UGA Alum HC who’ll amount to something, because I don’t doubt for a second that Ward could do it.

    Yes, nice dream… but something tells me the NFL coaching route is where he’ll wind up.

    Hines Ward recruiting for the Dogs would be sick. It would probably go something like this:

    “Hi, I’m Hines Ward and you should play for UGA. I will be your position coach and mentor. I know, I know, it sucks…but you have to wait until signing day. No really, put the pen down.”
