Coup de grâce

Craig James is gonna love the “Friday Night Lights” movie if things go according to plan.  Per producer Peter Berg:

“[Katims] has come up with a really great storyline that parallels what happened to Mike Leach, one of my heroes, a coach at Texas Tech who was unjustly fired and unjustly accused of mistreating a player with a concussion, which was proven to not have been the case. He’s now at Washington State getting ready for what I think will be a great redemption story,” Berg explained.

I wonder exactly how close that parallel will be.  I bet ESPN will be wondering, too.

  3. Best show in television history as far as I’m concerned, ratings be damned. Leach’s cameo appearance a few years ago was great when he was still the Tech coach.

My favorite cameo was the Mack Brown role as a booster trying to bend Coach Taylor’s ear about how to run the offense. I laughed because I could tell Mack was enjoying being on the other side of that conversation for once!

It’s definitely up there, ain’t it?
The Wire is my all-time favorite, hands down. The rest of my top ten shifts up and down — always top ten, but the order changes.
      Seinfeld
      Andy Griffith
      Friday Night Lights
      Cheers
      Homicide
      The Honeymooners
      Freaks and Geeks
      Sanford and Son
      Lost

Never watched all of THE SOPRANOS. Probably should. Current shows aren’t allowed, but Justified, Dexter, Homeland, and Boardwalk Empire are pretty daggum good.

      • How can you leave “Taxi” and “Rockford Files” off a list like that?

Showing my age here but “Route 66” was the all-time best TV show. Hands down. Every young person should have to watch at least 6 episodes as a condition for HS graduation.

Need to catch up on Rockford Files. I’ve seen a few; enough to be ashamed I haven’t seen more, but not enough to put it on my list.
Taxi? Complete whiff on my part.

Was that my favorite person from Albany on there tugging at Palin’s sleeve? She’s just the right size for Palin’s crosshairs target practice. Come on, Momma, make her one of your delicious pies with 8 eggs, 2 cans of condensed milk, 1 cup of cane sugar, 1 cup of brown sugar, 1 cup of lard, a pound of butter and topped by vanilla wafers washed down with a glass of whole cream. That oughtta do it.

The thing that makes me laugh about Leach: the fans and cult following can’t get over it. His actual players and their fat little girlfriends didn’t seem to mind his departure too much.

As for James, maybe all Texas Republicans should spend a few years in sports broadcasting prior to politics. You have to admit, that probably would have spared us Bush and Perry.

Maybe when the hard truth bears down upon Adam James that his football skills won’t pay the bills and his future prospects inside the state of Tejas are scorched by his nimrod father, maybe then he can hire himself out as a stage-hand during production. He’ll be mucho familiar with warehousing procedures for the production gear.

Gonna be hard to get a PG-13 rating if they have a character that killed 5 hookers in the movie though.

C’mon, you people are too hard on Jessie. The next thing you will be accusing him of is taking money and cars for playing college ball and costing his university the chance to field a football team. What in-your-face public figure like Jessie could do something that heinous and still show his face in public? He would have to be some imbecilic brain fart deficient of public graces to be running for public office, wouldn’t he? Lay off the guy. Can’t you see the crinkles of wisdom on his face and the sincerety of his fist bumping make him the ideal GOP candidate.
