So, who said this? (No fair peeking!)
“You guys know me. I’m the type of guy, I’m going to have relationships with my players. I hope to have relationships with the guys that play for me for the rest of my life.
“But the fact that people would make accusations that we tampered or did this or did that, again, I’m just going to defend our program and defend our character and how we do things. But I think it’s ridiculous to think that I’m not going to have relationships with these kids after I leave places.”
Answer here.
It honestly sounds like a Kiffin quote. Given the similar manner in which both coaches conduct themselves, I think my guess was a pretty good one.

Ha… These were exactly my thoughts.

Kiffin was my first guess as well.

First thought was trooper. Not surprised by this though.

How do you think he would react if one of his players did the same thing? He”d go ballistic of course.
I guess he doesn’t dig so much on the categorical imperatives. Truly a man of honor.

NAILED IT. Then I started second guessing myself and thinking it could be Kiffykins or even Meyer.

I went with Kiffin first and Meyer second. Funny how we all had the same coaches in mind. Franklin is really gunning for the top spot.

Yep, He Franklin reminds me a lot of Meyer without the capability. (or Tebow, maybe)

My first thought was Kiffy. I am Jack’s total lack of surprise that it was that whiny gash Franklin.

Duh.
So, young O’Brien? Be he a “man of honor”?

Nay — the door to Honour swings only one way, toward the West End of Nashville. So decreed Sir Franklin.

Be careful to whom you compare this guy. Kiffin beat us in his only attempt and won more than 10 games last year. Corch won the BCSNC twice at Florida. Might be better to compare him to Paul Johnson for disingenuousness.

Kiffen and corch won’t bite Mayor… At least not anymore .

You miss my point. Franklin (hopefully) does not possess sufficient gravitas to pose the type of danger as the other 2.

Without looking in the comments (or the article), i’d surmise that to be one James Franklin; douche-bag extraordinaire!

My first thought?
Sandusky.

He said relationships not relations.

In that context, the former is even creepier than the latter, if that’s possible.
And I guessed Meyer. But there’s still time to be right.

I totally thought Sandusky too. Don’t know what that says about us haha.

Yeah, I thought Sandusky or Chizik

I guessed Meyer.
The thing that jumped out at me was “after I LEAVE places”. I’d be much more comfortable with a coach who said “after I LEFT somewhere”.

The fact that people would make accusations that James Franklin tampered or did this or did that “wasn’t right. It was a bad deal. It will forever be in the mind of James Franklin and in the mind of our football team. We’ll handle it, and it’s going to be a big deal.”

“relationships” is another word for “contact”, and I have a feeling he is under investigation, odd that Maryland banned transfer to Vanderbilt, who they don’t even play. Becoming obvious as folks look closer at Franklin’s past, he does tend to jump schools a lot over his history too. Franklin and the words “character” or “integrity” arn’t what come to mind. Especially in Maryland where Franklin lied about his coach n waiting commitment and left them for Vanderbilt.

Franklin COULD have DENIED all contact with previous players SUCH AS DANNY O BRIEN, unfortuntely, Franklin has now admitted he contacted former players, he’s trying to downplay the contact as “casual”, but since Danny O Brien wants to lift the transfer block to Vanderbilt, it obviously was not a “causal’ contact.
Looks like an open and shut tampering case.

Franklin seems to adhere to the old Hollywood belief that “any publicity is good publicity”. So make a “splash”, Frankie! You’ve arrived!
“After I leave places” , is very telling. Just substitute “here” for places and you can see that he pictures himself moving on to bigger and better things, (as in a continuation of Vandy coaches being hired away to the NFL..or something).

I never imagined that The Commodes can one day be under NCAA investigation. With Franklin around, it seem to be coming sooner.
