“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
I know you went to law school and all and you’re really, really smart but his article makes sense. The coaches poll is a complete joke.

I don’t disagree with his overall point about the coaches poll. That’s why we run the Mumme Poll, remember?
It’s the logic he employs that’s silly.

I don’t agree with Dodd that often, but this time I think he is in the ballpark. And of course Saban manipulated the system. He ALWAYS manipulates the system, from oversigning to greyshirts to whatever he can push the envelope on.

As rarely as these chances arise, if UGA missed out an opportunity to play for a Championship all because Richt voted his conscience rather than Sabanesquely gaming the system…he’d at least be run out of town–if not lynched!
You can’t miss your one chance that comes along every 10, 20, even 30 years because somebody else might get their feelings hurt.

Can someone help me understand the math here. First, I was under the impression one could only have up to 5 early enrollees. Second, we signed 19 guys 3 were early enrollees so only 16 count towards 2012, leaving 9 spots left for 2012. so say my first assumption is wrong, is Richt planning on early enrolling 9 guys then signing 25 more on top of that? Because that is the only way that you avoid not signing a full class in 2012 and effectively voluntarily imposing probation on yourself. I’m really having a hard time seeing how signing only 19 guys this year makes any sense at all, especially when we have walk ons on scholarship. I love if somebody explained to me the logic better yet numbers behind this decision.

Why don’t you ask Richt? He does have a site, you know.

References to a Napoleon-like figure and The Princess Bride remind me that Nathan Shapiro was supposed to send Frank Haith to Chinatown where he probably would have been ineligible to receive any awards anyway

DIF-You are one funny mother. Did you put those jackets on the guys or did you just add the shield?

Thanks and as much as I like to misoverestimate myself, I’d take credit for it but, as usual, I just stole it from someplace else

Once again we are in MP territory with Saban playing the Black Knight challenged at the footbridge. One limb at the time.

Dodds: Ends justify the means. Meaning…
If my logic serves a “good” cause (playoff reform), then it doesn’t matter that it’s tortured. It derives its “goodness” from the cause it serves rather than any internal consistency.

Dennis Dodd shows his ignorance when he says Saban voted with his heart. Saban doesn’t have one.
