Georgia players received their Southeastern Conference Eastern Division championship rings on Wednesday.
“We got a little bling, bling, you know,” senior safety Bacarri Rambo said. “I’m going to wear mine around campus tomorrow. We know we’ve got to show them off. I’m not going to have my hands in my pocket at all. I’m going to walk with my hands by my side the whole time and let it shine in the sun.”

No rings for beating Tech again? What gives?

It reeks of something Tech would do. You should only get a ring for winning an SEC championship.

Can’t wait to see those on ebay.

Please just don’t sell them

Weak. Rings are for champions not division winners.

I’m glad the players like them, but I don’t like the idea of making rings just for winning the division. As TennesseeDawg said, it sounds like something Tech would do. Or South Carolina.
I’m proud of what the Dawgs accomplished last year. They got to the ring game. They just didn’t finish it off.

Welcome to Upward Tackle Football. This is sad. Do all division winners receive rings from the SEC?

Is this a ring from the SEC or something the school buys? But I agree with others, you shouldn’t get a ring unless you win the SEC.

I think you should only get a ring for winning the MNC. Let’s become just like the NFL where it inly matters if you win the one big game….oh wait that is what everyone is already whailing is happening.

In the NFL, the NFC and AFC champs get rings, and the Super Bowl Champ gets a ring.
Conference champs. Not division champs.

Some lamecocks suggested that you can’t win your division unless you beat everyone in your division. I don’t think the ring for an SEC East title is undeserved. It’s a grind to get to the SEC Championship. I hope it makes them hungry for the Championship. It will remind them how close they got.

Weak sauce. Rings are for champions, which we were not.

“Oh, I beg to differ sir!”
Please google Eastern Division Champions SEC-2011?
I did and the Georgia Bulldogs were crowned Champions. I believe your ring requirements have been fulfilled.
” DIVISIONAL CHAMPIONS:
Since the SEC expanded, Divisional Champions have been crowned. Occasionally, a tie between two or more teams occurs, requiring a tie-break. All teams involved in the tie breaker are considered Co-Divisional Champions, and the winner of the tie-breaker is the division’s representative to the Championship Game. ”
“there!……now we can be friends again.”

Screw it! Who cares what a bunch on sorehead onlookers think. You are the only ones in the world who can wear that ring and show off what 10 straight will get you. Enjoy every accomplishment now, boys. Looking back without a trophy to show your grandchildren just puts tears in your vision. Flaunt it when you got it, Dawgs. Most of us lived vicariously with each victory. Thanks.

As usual, I agree Cojones. Why would our fans want to be so hard on our team? Its not like this is a participation trophy. These kids work their butts off and represent our team. It’s not like Division Championships come around every year. I’d say a recognition is warranted and they deserve the rings.
I guess with some around here, if you got a Medal of Honor in the Vietnam or Iraq war then you shouldn’t accept it because we didn’t outright win the war!

Does anyone have a problem with the coaches listing the accomplishment on their resumes or with hanging a divisional banner in the athletic facilities? Same concept. Doesn’t bother me. The coaches and AD cashed in on winning the division. Why not throw some Damn Good Dawgs a bone too?
You don’t have to be satisfied but at least be happy for the achievement!

I wonder if this show of appreciation to the players might help with recruitment a bit too?

Its better than putting one of those dogbone stickers on their foreheads and walking around campus. If it was me, I’m not sure I’d want to be known as the ‘Miss Congeniality’ of the sec. Stuff like this is great for T-ball and toddler’s egos, but c’mon.

I’m sure if your T-baller or toddler played in a league as competitive as the SEC and made it all the way to a championship game, his/her ego wouldn’t be the only ego involved. 😉

Rings are the default choice since the NCAA prohibits offering cream cheese for the bagels.

That only applies to their families when they visit.

I’m happy for the players’ accomplishment too, but beating out 5 other teams, 2 of which have no real shot (Vandy and Kentucky), to goal is not exactly ring-worthy.

Why? did you spend too much on the rings for the boys? Do you even have an idea of how much these guys sacrifice for us… the fans and the school? If you want to play semantics then we actually beat out 10 other teams to make it to the game so maybe that can make it easier to justify rings. Some of ya’ll must not have been a part of a school sports team- which is very much like a family in many ways. Why is it not “ring-worthy” to celebrate their commitment to each other with a ring, especially when it involves a championship? Would it have been better for the administrators to keep the money in the athletic coffers than the kids getting acknowledgement?

Maybe a ring, but would you look at that thing? It looks more like Something Liberace or Elvis would wear as a belt buckle.

You do realize that the object of close up photography is to make the subject (ring) appear larger than life size?

I was using the fingers, which I assume are those of an adult human, as reference.

Also the belt buckle comment was intended as hyperbole, I realize it is not actually the size of a belt buckle.

maybe we should consider making one of those four finger rings. That would be totally fresh. Or maybe a neck pendant.

MEMO
Subject: Georgia “football players” unhappy with the recent awarding of SEC Divisional Championship Rings
To whom it may concern: From recent posts at “Get the Picture” it has
become apparent that there could be some “football players” unhappy with the awarding of the aforementioned ring.
Resolution: For those unhappy “football players” we are providing at no cost to the “football player” the return packaging and shipping so that you may return your ring. No questions asked.
Thank you for your time and attention to this detail. Look forward to seeing each and everyone of you at the Spring Game.
If this does not concern you….. please disregard the memo and STFU!
Making comments on “the worthiness of those receiving divisional championship rings” is a lot like pissing down your leg. It seems hot to you, but it never does to those who receive the ring.
AHD with help from LBJ

Good Lord, what in the blue blazes is wrong with ya’ll; this isn’t like Yech making rings for beating us, a one game thing, this is for winning the Eastern Division of the toughest conferences in the country! Yeah, we want more, but those young men deserve to not be mocked for their effort last year. I guess some of you will only be happy when we go back to the Goff/Donnan years when winning wasn’t all that.

What the hell do any of you complainers care? If not for this blog post, most of you would never have known about the rings. Would you prefer they had gotten T-shirts that read “I played in the SEC championship game and all I got was this lousy T-shirt”? To be honest…had someone told me before the 2011 season that are greatest accomplishment would be beating Florida, I would have been thrilled. Geez…the players work their asses off to compete in the toughest conference in college football. Let them get a reward now and then…
