I say Hines Ward is the greatest, most accomplished Dawg of all time!
All the postiions he played, the way he contributed, his attitude, his excellence and awards in the pros….all add up to One Fine Dawg.
And…the guy is always smiling! Put him on the recruiting wagon!

We have no way of knowing whether being a DGD will translate into a good coach, but I would LOVE to see him involved in the football program in some capacity. Motivator, recruiter, anything!

If we can make him down field blocking coach I would be a happy man. As they say in Pittsburgh #86 Psycho Ward. He blocked better than their TE’s for sure.

The new recruiter job hasn’t been filled , has it? Saw it posted 3 weeks ago and it was stated that it soon would be filled. Waited to see who it was and even mentioned Hines. Did I miss something?

Hines was quoted last night as wanting to coach at UGA. Would think he could help in the recruiter’s job while getting up to snuff for communicating his playing knowledge when the appropriate coaching job opens up.
Holy smokes! Couldn’t you see the excitement of a recruit and his parents if Hines comes walking up to the front door? Start with Nkemdiche. Then Reuben Foster.

My understanding of the recruiting position open at UGA, that person does Not have any communication with recruits. It is an organizational position only and strickly in the office only. As much as I would to see Hines on staff, that isn’t the job for him.

On the recruiting position, has anyone else heard the Ron Zook rumor? Start hearing it a couple of days ago and last night a normally reliable source indicated he has heard the same deal….as the Recruiting Director.
Sounded a bit far fetched initially, but just wondering if anyone else has heard such things?

Zook is a rumor…not going to bring a former gator on campus. Hines is our man for on campus recruiting. He will not be going out to players homes. He and Richt will make the ultimate closer when we get kids on campus.

Have you noticed the decline in success of sports teams at Florida since McGarity’s departure? It has been my contention for years that McGarity was the real brains in the Florida AD’s office, not Jeremy Foley. Every one of you has probably seen the situation where a subordinate propped up the boss. Well, that went on for years in Gainesville. I only hope he stays in Athens for a very long time. The problems we have had athletically, in football particularly but really in all sports, can be traced directly to the UGA AD’s office.

Why can’t Hines coach. He can come back to school for two years as a graduate assistant. I’ve read that a few former pros that wanted to coach started back as older graduate assistants. Heck if Bill Hartman can be a GA at 70+ then Hines is a shoo in. Once he graduates he can kick Ball out of the WR job.

As I mentioned earlier, the Recruiter job would give him time to learn the skills he may need in coaching, both in communication skills and formal classroom training. OJT doesn’t hurt either.
As to Zook’s recruiting skills, I have no objection to the positive aspects he would bring to UGA. He’s coming from Illinois, right? Don’t get the old FU scars mixed up with a guy who could recruit O Linemen from the midwest and Chicago in particular. That would be the height of ignorance to brand him with a school that dissed him and that lived off his recruits to earn two NCs.
I dislike FU as much as the next guy , but I don’t hate their stupidity. Don’t fall into their way of character assasination by inference. That’s their bag and one some fans tried to copy with “Fire Richt”. The thought of such stupidity (toward Zook) on the internet made me ill then as well as now (toward Richt). Incivility toward coaches is an FU thing not to be emulated in any way.
