Really, who could have expected that Bobby Petrino wasn’t straight with the people he worked with? (And yes, to answer your first question, Petrino does have a morals clause in his contract.)
Does he survive the storm? His AD is clearly pissed, but I think it’s going to come down to how much the Pork Rind Jimmys of that neck of the woods care about it. My guess is that after a couple of days of reflection they’ll find they can live with it, as long as the 10-win seasons continue to go along with the deal.
It’ll be a helluva way to run a football program, though.

In May 1999, Alabama AD Bob Bockrath’s coach, Mike DuBose, lied about a relationship with a secretary after she filed a harassment complaint. Ultimately, the truth came out and the school had to pay the woman $350,000. Did Alabama fire DuBose? Nope. It fired Bockrath. (DuBose went on to win the 1999 SEC title and got himself fired in 2000 for losing.)

If Arkansas fires Petrino, they will most certainly go after up and comer Coach SOD. What is UT going to do ? For awhile there UT fans thought that with all the hot seat talk surrounding CMR, Georgia would eventually fire Richt and come after SOD. Just when they thought they could relax a bit this happens. I’d look for the Hogs to make a run at either Petersen or Patterson, assuming Petrino goes (which I doubt). Unless they can find another asshole head coach ready to bail on his boss – and it may be a little early to expect Todd Graham to do that. 😉

The point that most seem to be overlooking is that she was hired as a recruiting director for the football team just over a week ago. If they find out the affair was going on long before the hire, that could be the biggest problem he will face. I’m not sure what the law is in Arkansas, but if this happened in Georgia it would be a huge ethics violation. In the public school system, it is a fireable offense.

This is a much more sorid affair. I read yesterday that the young lady is engaged to an assist strength coach and they were or still are to be married in June. That poor guy…the 50 yr old coach is giving your soon to be wife the business and now everybody knows about it. Talk about the walk of shame.

Well…if it is true that she is engaged to someone on Bobby’s staff then yes a serious beat down would be heading his way if it had not already happened. I think that if it comes to light that the affair was happening before her new job and that she is engaged to a strength coach then it would be very difficult to keep him. I don’t know anything about Petrino’s family, but I feel bad for them. The wife and kids have probably sacrificed much so that he can be a big time football coach. He pays them back with this. Shameful.
