If there’s one thing you’d think a coach at Arkansas would have enough sense to avoid, it would be to keep his personal business off a university-issued cellphone.

Six months of telephone records show that former Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino was in frequent contact with his mistress, including conversations before their motorcycle crash that led to his firing.
Petrino’s university cell phone records were obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press through a Freedom of Information Act request…
Actually, you can make a good argument that Petrino was even dumber than the Nuttster was with his phone usage.

These cell phone records are so consistently entertaining, why does the press wait for a scandal to request them? Go get every major coach’s records, cross reference them against the yellow pages, and see what happens. Petrino may not be the smartest coach out there, but I bet he’s not the dumbest.

for the records to be subject to the open records act they have to have been paid for by a governmental entity(i.e the school or the athletic department). The press can’t ask for a private cell phone acct.. I don’t know if Petrino is arrogant or stupid and as Forrest said maybe it’s both,Pay for your own cellphone is probably the only life lesson this prick will get out of this whole mess.

Well, considering the trouble his immediate predecessor at the school had with this exact issue, I’m not sure Bobby is really good at learning lessons. Clearly a lot of coaches with million dollar salaries would rather have the $80 a month in cell phone bills paid by the school. It just makes for a better scandal.

According to a friend who is an Arky grad and living there is the sobering news that Jessica’s fiance is no longer employed at Arkansas. Collateral damage to a young Swimming and Diving coach I guess. Jessica’s June
wedding is no longer on the books and Jessica is not working at Arkansas either.

He’s as smart as I thought he was. Arrogance is a form of stupidity that the perpetrator never understands. At least he has been consistently stupid. Plus, paying off a mistress shows he isn’t the smartest Lothario on the block; nor is she. She hooked one fish and still couldn’t keep her bait in the can.

A person who is arrogant but mostly smart otherwise is a dangerous person indeed. A person who’s both arrogant and stupid is a danger primarily to himself. Either way, this scandal couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person. Too bad Petrino will probably still get picked up for a coordinator job just prestigious enough to make him believe he’s still bulletproof — guys like him never, ever learn (at least until they get cut off from either the money or the pussy).

It’s the fatal assumption that a transcendent talent at ONE thing is actually a transcendent talent for ALL things. You see it in businessmen all the time. They make a lot of money doing (X). They assume that makes them experts at everything else. Which basically explains the sheer bipartisan incompetence of Congress.
