If you want to be good at getting ’em to the next level, get ’em in the door first.

The reason Georgia has so many players in the NFL is because Richt does a good job getting so many of them to Athens first.

… With the national midpoint at a recruiting ranking of #39, most of the top SEC teams are recruiting and producing NFL picks at a similar rate.  This is a very good snapshot of top recruiters having a low ceiling.  Alabama, LSU, Florida and Georgia all getting top players, keeping them on campus and getting them drafted.  They may not be at the top of this particular list, but that is good non-game coaching.

Damn right! He and the rest of the staff got us to 5th after USC, LSU, Ok, OSU, UGA, Tx, FU, UM, VaT and FSU in draft rank. Pretty good championship company as well. Interesting stat.

Actually, that is what is so maddening about CMR. Statistically he recruits as well or better than FLA, Bama, LSU, Auburn, etc. and yet…….

And yet this program continues to drop 2-4 games a year. We know the list of reasons, defense, special teams, o-line, young QB, no running game etc. The list goes on. Year in and year out this program continues to fall short with a truck load of NFL talent. The issue is the same as it was during Richt’s first season: Game management and preparation. Maybe this program is inching closer to the brass ring.

SD, it’s because they never field a complete team, like Bama or Florida in past years. There is always something missing and usually it is unanticipated–like last season’s breakdown in special teams. Sometimes it is the O-line (actually often it is the O-line) but other times it is failure at RB, or the disappearance of all the DBs at once…..Drives me nuts.
