Matt Hayes says he’s already the sixth-best head coach in the Big 12, which is high praise indeed (“The SEC is the nation’s best conference. The Big 12 has the nation’s best coaches.”).
All we know is… he’s called The Weis!
Matt, allow me to give you a clue here. If Weis were as good a coach as you describe him to be, he wouldn’t be coaching at a sinkhole like Kansas now.
*based on last year’s SEC total offense standings
“If Weis were as good a coach as you describe him to be, he wouldn’t be coaching at a sinkhole like Kansas now.”
Bingo. If he were coaching basketball, that would be one thing. But in fact he’s coaching at the Big 12 equivalent of Kentucky.

That whole post kind of left my mouth on the floor. I’m not even sure I’d put Chuck over Tuberville.

I can’t wait to see his SEC coaches rankings.

Coach rankings in general can go off the reservation quickly. Look at a guy like Bill Snyder — I’m not sure he could do what somebody like Bob Stoops has done at OU or Mack Brown at Texas (and I’m talking overall body of work), but at the same time, I AM sure that those two couldn’t do what Snyder has done at K-State.

Agreed. I feel similarly about Jim Grobe. How many other coaches could win an ACC title at Wake Forest? I’m not sure exactly, but I wouldn’t need an entire hand to do the count.

Another good example. Sometimes coaches and jobs have to fit the right way.

Chris Peterson might be another example.

So far Peterson appears to be smarter than the Hawk, so we haven’t found out lol.

What’s his basis for rating Big 12 coaches higher than the SEC? I’m not sure I agree.

8 total titles in BCS era to their 2, not to mention 6 consecutive titles… Enough Said

How can 6 of the top 8 coaches be rising and only 1 falling? I’m a glass half full person myself, but if 6 out of 8 people are doing the same thing, I would label them as holding steady.

Who is the best coach in the Big 12? Mack Brown? He routinely wets the bed against his school’s biggest rival and his greatest achievement basically came because Vince Young didn’t need or care to follow the playbook. Bob Stoops? Sure, unless the game is of any consequence. I mean… how can you possibly justify saying that the head coaches of the Big 12 are better than the ones in the SEC?

Mark Rickt sounds an awful lot like Mack Brown minus Vince Young and a national title.

Perfect analogy. That’s the only thing eluding CMR. He should’ve had an opportunity in 2002 & 2007. Look at his body of work. He’ll eventually win one!!

I’ve said the same thing. I think there are quite a few parallels between the Richt and Brown.

Amazing how Hayes doesn’t let facts get in the way of his opinion. Fat Charlie is living off his reputation with Tom Brady, who would make any coordinator look good. Once he left the Patriots, his “decided tactical advantage” fell flat on it’s face. With the talent he had at ND and Florida (yes they had offensive talent) he couldn’t muster any offense. Wish he had stayed at Florida so there could be a run of UGA wins guaranteed.

Let’s be nice to Kansas, now. Kansas is a fine place.

While combing my mullet and pressing my jorts every morning, this is one Gator fan that thanks the football gods that Weis is not longer at Florida.

Along with his Super Bowl rings he bragged about waving in front of impressionable young recruits who dig Bling.
And you aren’t fooling us either. We know that you don’t press your jorts and comb your mullet. You press your mullet and comb your jorts.
