More shit Saban doesn’t have time for.

He delivers a polite backhand to Spurrier’s division games only proposal.

“I think the other division games you play on the other side are important to our fans and there’s a lot of tradition involved in some of those games. I think if you minimize the importance of those games, that wouldn’t be in the best interest of our league.”

By my count, that’s five coaches who’ve gone on the record about it.  Current score:  pro-OBC 3, anti-OBC 2.

Seems to be divided based on the strength of the cross divisional permanent which is shortsighted considering the ebb and flow every 5 years or so.

We should have a OBC-Saban douche off.

Spurrier has had the opportunity to change the rule since 1992. I suspect his thinking on this issue has only recently “evolved”.

It’s the dumbest idea in the history of earth. Okay, maybe that’s a bit much, but it’s close. Imagine trying to broker a new deal with CBS and tell them that the lsu vs Florida game won’t mean anything. That will be the deal breaker. You think CBS is going to give up the drama of David greene to Michael Johnson or mt. Cody blocking UT’s last second FG or Les going for it on 4th down over and over against tebow’s gators? No. Way. You think CBS wants a ga vs auburn game where we sit our banged up starting qb because we’re resting him up to beat Kentucky the next week, the game that really matters in winning the east.

The NFL counts all games because the talent level is mostly equal or at least have the opportuniy to be across the league. Your schedule is the luck of the draw. Divisionalrecords are tie breakers. Sound familiar? Spurrier’s idea spells disaster. Imagine an 8 team playoff where conf champs are guaranteed spots. Imagine us winning the East with a 5-1 division record, but also losing to Clemson, LSU, Auburn & tech. We win the seccg and go to the playoff at 8-5. Yeah, that sounds like what’s best for cfb.

Or, more likely, that Auburn rests injured players in advance of the Iron Bowl.

Yep, it’d just be more embarrassing (but the right call) for us to do it for UK.
