“Looks like it’s another summer of conference craziness.”

For all I know, this report may very well be gospel, but I can’t help thinking this is prudent advice.  Sometimes, it’s hard to tell where the reporting ends and the speculating begins.

    If this is true, the SEC has certainly missed the boat. Clemson would appear to be a fit for the SEC, and a great one at that. The addition of A&M and Mizzou were for TV markets. Got it. Clemson and FSU would only strengthen the quality of SEC football in the south, in addition to providing the one aspect that makes this conference incredible…Geographical location. The ablility to drive to each school is awesome for the fans. Having fans of different schools live next to one another only adds fuel to the already spirited rivilary. This is lacking in the Big12, Pac12 and ACC. The SEC leaders have lost sight of this fact! Bring Clemson and FSU into the SEC. Good lord, it is too simple.

      I agree, except I would bring North Carolina or North Carolina State +, FSU, and leave Clemson slowly twisting in the wind. There is already an SEC team from SC, but none from NC.
      The traveling distance argument is very valid. Clemson, in the BIg 12, will be hurt by thie travel distances.

        It’s not as big a deal as you think, considering the ACC currently stretches from Boston to Miami.

          Hell, look at the eventual Big East set-up when Boise State and San Diego State start playing football in that league.

          If you are saying the current conferences do not consider distance, I would agree. If you are claiming distance does not matter to the fans, I would disagree. Part of what has created such passion for SEC football is the geographical location of each university. The fact that you may have 1-3 neighbors on your street that attended and/or are fans of rival SEC schools has helped to drive the year round college football talk. Drive around any neighborhood in the South and you will see at least half a dozen college flags flying from homes.

    While having respect for FSU’s team, I don’t want them in the SEC. It’s bad enough with their competition in Valdosta, Thomasville and other places in So Ga, I don’t want them to have the SEC mantra as well for recruiting. Certainly Va T would be a get to the SEC and open up the DC area for our recruiting.

    Has anyone considered ND (since they are rumored as looking) for it’s proximity to Chicago and those fine Catholic boys teams they turn out? I want us to recruit heavily there, if for nothing else, some fine O linemen.

      Wouldn’t that be a hoot to have ND in the SEC since they are close enough in proximity to spit in Delany’s face?
