    So a coach decides that one player contributed more to the team in one week and therefore that player gets more money, regardless of “star” status? Uh, yeah, Steve… have fun keeping your locker room together.

      Ask Pat Dye (if you can sober him up long enough to absorb a question) and Wayne Hall: it’s easier than you think, although you have to watch out for the Eric Ramseys of the world. Maybe Bobby Lowder has a future as a consultant to football coaches looking to set up a workable payment system. He, Dye and Hall could have a second act as consulting bagmen. Brilliant!!!!

    Do hotels, gas stations & restaurants in Columbia charge different rates to the families of starters and back ups?

      Hotel Whitney rates are different but there’s a discount if they pump their own gas.

        It is NOT pay for play.
        The amount of money each player receives is based on how well he plays.
        I never took a logic class but these two statements seem contradictory

    So I’m just curious, why does he assume that just b/c there is more profit that the players would share in it? The reason coaches share in the wealth is they can go elsewhere to coach. At a time when the academic side is seeing cutbacks you would think some of the bounty would go to academics. Well maybe not.

      Where the income outpaces spending, it is to a degree. The problem here is that the spending almost always outpaces income w/r/t sports in higher education. The majority of institutions use institutional support to subsidize athletics; not the other way around.

    So, fellow (all genders) Dawgs, what do you think Steve’s players think of this idea , pass or fail? They are placing him on a Player’s First pedestal that will entail busting their ass out of loyalty of his very vocal and public remarks. He’s brushing up and shining his “I really do care for you guys” halo to counter the Garcia years. You can say what you wish about his IQ, but you can never say he has gotten unsmart.

    It’s all a part of his upped recruiting plan.

    Richt should counter with an European vacation for players and family after the season. If no one goes for it, he still is a great guy for proposing that wonderful idea that includes their families and if the SEC turns it down, then they are the bad guys and Richt is still the good guy. See how that works?.

    I sometimes wonder if some of you are paranoid enough to blog.

        Thanks, DIF. Romney doesn’t mention why he didn’t go for NG or Reserves during ‘Nam. He could have joined, campaigned for his party in Ala and had his Service Records lost like “W” did without ever going near a war zone. As a vet I abhor such mushmouth patriotism these aholes keep putting forth while trying to tell the rest of us what our current President should do with the military.

        I will always respect Obama’s handling of military matters plus the little extra respect he gives by going to Dover AFB to salute the fallen in their caskets as they arrive “home”. He started in his first year in office. This after Cheney used a robot to copy his signature that he was too lazy to write on condolence letters to the fallen’s family. All veterans should never forget.
