SEC SOS, baby.

Sure, Georgia is taking its share of crap over this year’s schedule.  But if you take a look at this preseason strength of schedule ranking, which is based on averaging the preseason rankings listed here, you’ll find that the Dawgs still manage a stronger SOS than “Recent Accolades: Sun Bowl Berth” Georgia Tech.  And that’s even with the #34 Jackets facing off against #9 Georgia.

When you get down to it, Tech isn’t playing the likes of Alabama, Arkansas or LSU either.

Tech’s in the ACC. Need I say more?

ACC has the same problem as the Big 10/11/12, Big East, Big 12, etc., there just isn’t enough quality depth. The SEC is no better at the bottom, but the mid and top are way above anyone else. That is why the comments about someone “backing” into the title game show the authors don’t really understand the game. Even when TN survived three miracles in 2007, they still were able to beat good teams, and stay competitive when they didn’t have a solid game. As bad as they were relative to UGA that year, they almost beat LSU in Atlanta.

Always 6-8 teams in the SEC capable of beating you when you don’t bring your A game, I think we can take that number up with two additional teams. TAMU has been down for a few years, and Mizzou has recently arrived under Pinkel, but they were upper echelon in the Big 12. They will hold their own within their first 2-3 years in the league, and I wouldn’t be surprised if A&M doesn’t contend in the West by year 5. Lot of talent to draw from in Texas, I expect them them to cut into LSU’s pipeline now that they are in a member of the SEC.

For what it’s worth I noticed that FSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, USC, Texas, and Wisconsin are also ducking Alabama , LSU and Arky as well. Does any of them play the top teams in the SEC?

FSU plays one SEC team UF. Is UF a top team? They have been plenty stout in the past as a rule.

    Oklahoma-none.

Oregon- None although they do engage Tennessee Tech from Cookeville, Tennessee in a home game.

    USC- none

Texas- UT travels to “The Grove” for their compelling SEC match up. Very nice venue. UT I salute you. ;-)

    Wisconsin- none.

Well if you want to beat the best play the best. And you Big ? whatever should grow a pair and stop the support of a playoff where the best from the best conference only bring one team. Shame ….. shame on you.

Nicely done. And the players on those teams have as much to say about who they play as the UGA players. Just beat whomever lines up in front you, that is all you can do to prove your worth. If you earn the title of SEC Champ, you don;t have to backup to anyone for respect.

You love considering Tech a “rival”. I get it. Sorry I upset you.

Apparently, I am not alone. Appreciate your good manners while posting. “Proceed sir.”
“Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate is the nickname given to an American college football rivalry game played annually by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team of the Georgia Institute of Technology and the Georgia Bulldogs football team of the University of Georgia. The two Georgia universities are separated by 70 miles (110 km) and have been heated rivals since 1893. While the sports rivalry between the two institutions has traditionally focused on football, they also compete in a variety of other intercollegiate sports, as well as competing for government and private funding, potential students, and academic recognition within the state and nationally.[1]

The Georgia Institute of Technology (commonly referred to as Georgia Tech, Tech, or GT), is an engineering research university located in the state’s capital and largest city, Atlanta. The University of Georgia (commonly referred to as Georgia or UGA) is located in Athens, and is a
liberal arts research university. The academic and geographic divergence of the two institutions polarizes the state of Georgia into two large fan bases. Even though they are both large, one is larger than the other.”

…..there Kdurant! Now we can be friends again.
          just sayin’!

Dude, it’s June and I’m not your typical, boring, one-dimensional reader of this blog. Find some more sports to follow.

Okay Renaissance man, well maybe if you were a little more one-dimensional on the sport and team that we are extremely passionate about then you could comprehend what AHD was trying to get across. Georgia Tech has a damned long history with us and as so, has earned a piling on of ridicule and insults by our fans. It is not above us as a fan base to kick them while they’re down. They would and will do the same the next time they get a chance- which hopefully won’t be in my lifetime.

                  • kdurant

You’re confusing disagreement with lack of comprehension. I don’t agree at all with continuing to measure ourselves against a program like that. Let it go.

Love the relative positions of USCe/UF vs UGA on that list
