Cold, cold, cold.

While we’re on the subject of feelings in the wake of Crowell’s arrest and dismissal, here’s something that hasn’t gotten much attention in the Dawgosphere (but which I wondered about in the immediate aftermath of the decision to sever the relationship):  although Alabama State’s head coach spoke with some Georgia coaches about Crowell before acceptance, he did not speak with Mark Richt.  That’s kinda out of character for the man, wouldn’t you say?

odd that there is no context in the story about why A-state coaches didn’t talk to Richt. would definitely be out of character if Richt had refused to talk.

WHAT! This is a no-lose situation for Coach Barlow and Alabama State. They get the ’11 SEC Freshman of the Year at RB for at least one season. If the guy fails to pan out he’s gone with no sweat to Barlow. If he does pan out Barlow gets maybe the best RB in the FCS for 2 years. Coach Barlow probably just couldn’t get CMR on the phone at that time and decided based on speaking to the other UGA coaches to pull the trigger (pun intended) and sign Crowell while he could. I wouldn’t read anything negative into him not talking to CMR.

The WHAT! reaction was to the linked article, not your post Z-man.

  2. SOME PERSON just do not like to hear about the TRUTH.

I mean, what could CMR say that the guy doesn’t already know? I doubt he even contacted Richt.

I’m pretty sure Crowell won’t have any problems blending at Alabama State…

Not sure what your trying to say here…Crowell ever do anything like this? Or there some think else you’re meaning?

First of all I wish our departed RB well. He’s a young dude that is learning a hard lesson the hard way. I hope he gets his shit straight and makes a good life for himself. I was driving around the classic city w a 9mm in my glove box back in the day. Of course the serial numbers were on it so there’s one felony we don’t share. CMR needs to teach them the golden rule of law breaking. Don’t break the law when you’re breaking the law. Do it one at a time. Rule no 2, the Athens Gestapo will catch you. Don’t make it any easier for them.

Now for the video…the best part was the “heavy set” girl that walks through with a plate of dessert like nothing is going on around her. Chairs flying…F that, today was banana pudding day.

If you can’t say anything nice…..

Mark Richt loved that kid and stuck his neck out there very, very far for him. Through all of the ups and downs last year, Richt stayed in his corner (and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were issues with Crowell that we never even heard about). Then Crowell went out and pulled this garbage driving around smelling of weed with a gun in his car with a filed off serial number… enough’s enough. I think Crowell probably hurt Richt. I don’t doubt that Richt would have spoken of his potential to the A-State coaches; at the same time, I’m not at all surprised that Richt didn’t lead the recruitment effort of other teams for his player this time. I thought Richt’s statement after the dismissal was very telling: “We have a dedicated and committed group of men who are working hard to prepare for the coming season. Our total focus will be directed toward the team and this effort.” Sounds like, “I wash my hands of him” to me.

Wasn’t Richt on Vacation with the family all last week? Which could explain the no communication.
