The day Mark Richt lost control of Mark Richt.

The concept of Howard Schnellenberger disciplining Mark Richt (h/t Lewis and Hersch @ Dawg Run Message Board) is blowing my mind, man.  What sort of depravity gets you suspended at The U in its prime?  (You’d think being sandwiched between Jim Kelly, Bernie Kosar and Vinnie Testaverde on the depth chart would be enough motivation for a guy to walk the straight and narrow.)

By the way… does this make Richt a thug?

I’m fairly certain it involved a scooter, an alley, and some off-the-street hair product under the seat.

Poor clock management….got through half his semester final early, so then sat back but only too late realized he was out of time and did not finish the exam. Thus the birth of “finish the drill”.

    Mark, aka ‘Boca” back in the day (he is from there), loved the ladies and non-alcohol party;

    Nuff said.

“It is the policy of the Miami coaching staff to not disclose the reasons behind disciplinary actions.” Words of wisdom that someone at UGA should adopt as his own.

Schnellenberger must have suspended Richt because he loved him.

Obviously this shows a pattern that Mark Richt can’t exercise self control therefore can’t be expected to control a team of out of control thugs. Ergo we need a new head coach. How he lasted this long with a bombshell like this in his past is beyond me

(That was sarcasm for those of you who don’t recognize it)

I’m guessing the Broward County mug shots from 1982 aren’t online yet?

Pretty sure this highlights the gross entitlement and lack of work ethic displayed by Richt and his generation.

Good point. I also bet there wasn’t anyone there to coddle him or hold his hand either. I hope some alum thought it necessary to argue with a college student and really got in his face publicly and told him how tough things were back in the day.

  10. I believe the NCAA needs to start an investigation. How old was Bobo in 1982 and where was he in the night in question….inquiring minds want to know.

The sign on the fence at the residence hall swimming pool CLEARLY said “no backflips.”

Occassionally, extreme measures are needed to enforce the “puff, puff, pass” rule.

Interesting that Steve Hummer wrote that article. Just a footnote, without Richt at the helm, Miami lost to Maryland 17-18, costing them any chance at a bowl bid.

Not one, but two future NFL 20,000-plus yard passers being redshirted on that team.

    Embarrassment of riches.

Mark was not a choir boy back then he found Jesus at FSU. When asked about Mark Jim Kelly told a TV interviewer that Mark was called the Boca Kid and he used to follow him around to pick up girls as The Boca Kid was a chick magnet. Also he worked as a bartender after college so I doubt alcohol was off the table.

Correct Sir, Richt has also stated that he had a chip on his shoulder because all through college and the pros there was at least one star QB in front of him and he thought he never got a fair shot. He said accepting Christ allowed him to let go of that anger and realize that those guys started because they were simply better QBs than he.

Great! You are not too far from home. This is a great night for Lee County at the All Star Game. Buster Posey playing, Philip Phillips singing in the pre game, and Luke Bryan singing the Star Spangled Banner. Not bad for a county of 25,800!
