True, there’s one less Dawg on this year’s list than there was on last year’s – but that can be explained by (1) having to accommodate two more schools and (2) Georgia’s lofty preseason reputation on special teams last season.
What is impressive is that Georgia put more defensive players on the three teams than any other team in the conference.

And that was without S. Williams making the list. I hope he proves people were wrong to neglect him.

Not that he’s All-America, though he has improved substantially every year and that is not out of the question for this year. But Williams should certainly be among the top 4 or 5 safeties in the League, right now.

I don’t understand Da’Child being 1st team either, Justin Hunter is the best WR on that team. Sure he was hurt, but so was Lattimore.
Great seeing Comming’s on there. My 2 biggest beefs with the list is Ogletree on the 3rd team, he’s an easy 2nd team pick and you could make a good argument as a 1st team pick. No T- King either? The only returning reciever on the list with more yards last year was Da’Child.
And just think we could have easily had 2 more make the list on D (Williams and Geathers) and one more on the Offense if IC wasn’t such a knucklehead.

It’s kind of depressing to think that in the likely scenario where ‘Tree leaves for the NFL after this year we will never have had his services for a full year.

Roster. Not one tight end or one offensive linemen from uGA. And preseason polls show UGA ranks 12th in the conference with regard to the O line. Two players on the first team offense from the State of Georgia and neither wears the Red & Black. That says a lot to me about where the Dawsgs may go this season.
The coaches have their work cut out. A very inexperienced O line, no established running game [nothing new here], and a 2 year QB who is prone to turn the ball over. The pressue of the defense will be huge, and hopefully there will be no injuries and they are no wore down half way into the season.
No O linemen. Very troubling. Recruiting, player development, roster depth, and coaching are now coming to the fore in 2012 about the O line. Can a first year starter at center weighing less than 300 lbs hold up against SEC teams and not turn over the ball with his QB.

We have 13 scholorship O-line right now, none of which are seniors. You don’t fix problems like that overnight as some of you knuckeheads seem to think. Give Will Friend a chance with some good young talent and a revamped S&C program. Who knows you might be surprised.

I sure hope so. I’m on record as being excited by our OL. And for the first time in many years. That’s based on what I saw in the spring. Further, I’m one who never bought in to the OL hype of the last 6-7 years, for what that’s worth.
That said, I suspect our young talent is limited to the first first 6, maybe 7, and none of them are All Stars .. yet. After that, there seems to be a big drop off, from what little I’ve been able to see. But there seems to be a steady progression in the right direction under Friend, who finally has 5 guys he can work.
That, in itself, is exciting.

Murray should not even be 2nd team…he has never won a big game, and Mitchell is playing defense. So that means UGA has no one from the offense on these lists. If we had our full allotment of 85 scholly players, we’d certainly have 5 or 6 first-teamers on offense. I blame Bobo and think Richt should be fired for continuing a well established trend of losing at least 4 games or more in certain seasons, and never winning a MNC like nearly all of the other SEC teams we should be competing with. What a disaster. These pre-season lists just prove the point…no room for argument.
This whole situation just makes my Chick-Fil-A breakfast biscuit taste worse!

Surely you clowns are joking, right? Murray threw 35 TD passes last season–a school record. And if we just had a full complement of signees we’d have “5 or 6 first teamers on offense.” That’s some really good recruiting out of signing 15 more guys! 5 or 6 first team SEC players out of 15 recruits!!! Nick Saban can’t even keep up with that!! AusDawg85, you are just making fun of SD aren’t you? I hope. If not you must be sniffing glue like SD seems to be most of the time.

I never get too worked up about pre-season “awards” so maybe our team will use this as motivation to step their game up. Some of those look a little off but the players have the chance to make the real All SEC teams when it matters. I particularly look for our offensive unit to get fired up.
The only “lock” that I see is Wing at punter, that guy is a weapon, and unlikely to get hurt. May be the best I have seen since the real “Ray Guy”. I also think Lattimore will have more troubles recovering from his surgery than the voters do, seems to really effect cutting ability the 1st year back for everyone..

Let’s sit back and see how the season plays out. I have been frustrated as well at times – but we have extremely high expectations year in and year out – as does Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, LSU and now South Carolina.
The down cycle and bottoming out in 2010 was just brutal – but I like the moves Richt made on the staff.
This year will be extremely interesting as EVERY game on the schedule – we are going to be the favorites with the exception of USCe.
RB and OL will be interesting to watch. Excited the season is fast approaching.

YEAR OF THE CHICKEN? I think this WILL be the peak year for Spurrier and the Chickens – and I think UGA will win the game.
FRISTRATION ALERT: It’s the game we will lose we are supposed to win that bothers me – look out for Tennessee, Auburn or Florida. Guarantee we will play a mistake filled flat game against one of these teams.

Our starting D is the most talented we’ve had in a long time. But man, departures after 2012 will leave us decimated. I wouldn’t be surprised if CTG wants to sign 20 or more recruits just for the D side of the ball.
