If mocking Stewart Mandel is wrong, I don’t wanna be right.

I don’t understand why cocknfire doesn’t understand.

I’ve never quite understood why the meanderings of Stewart Mandel and his absurd ranking system for college football teams upsets Georgia fans so much — but it does. And so to answer Mandel’s ridiculous way of ranking the teams — how many people in Montana would recognize a given teams helmet — a couple of otherwise generally sensible Georgia bloggers are actually sending a Georgia helmet up to Montana.

At least I’m generally sensible.  So I’ve got that going for me.

SCar hasn’t been in the arena, so no wonder he doesn’t get it.

  2. Mayor of Dawgtown

Why send the helmet to Montana? To prove that idiot Mandel doesn’t know sh!t, that’s why!

Being called generally sensible might qualify as the nicest thing anybody ever said about me. I doubt my wife would agree with that assessment though.

  4. As much as I enjoy Cocknfire’s commentary, you’d think South Carolina, of all programs, would understand the disappointment at not being viewed on par with other programs.

They practically invented the ‘hey, what about us!?!’ meme.

  5. Poor Gamecock Nation … They have the tradition of Kentucky with the results of Vanderbilt.

Cackalacky has never been known to appreciate nuance.

This gets us through the last days of summer…

You dont see the good senator going over to their blog and slapping the “preseason national champs” out of their mouths.

    • Comin' Down The Track

Man, no kidding. What with the Braves being manic and fall camp not yet started… Ay yi yi!

  8. Nate Dawg

File this right under “who cares what you think”. Hey, Dawg fans know how to have a good time and good laugh. Jealous much?

  9. Go Dawgs!

Well, he willingly devotes time, energy and likely also money to following the South Carolina Gamecocks, so I don’t think I’d be too insulted if he’s calling your reasoning into question.

It’s probably hard to understand being disrespected when you engender not even a modest level of respect amongst your peers to begin with.

    My response would be this:
1.) It’s not as if we’re consumed with this. It’s fun and it also proves Mandel isn’t quite as smart as he thinks he is. How can you go wrong there?

2.) Why are you concerned that we’re concerned? Wait a minute, doesn’t that mean that you’re concerned (with the rankings) as well? Think on that…

  12. Sneaky Short

Send up an “11 win season” ring with the UGA helmet, see if anyone recognizes that sparkling piece of fake juice.

Times like these call for a traveling press secretary* to respond to cocknfire:

“Kiss my ass. Montana will soon be a Holy site for the Georgia people. Show some respect.”

*Gorka: “Kiss my ass. This is a Holy site for the Polish people. Show some respect.” Gorka also told Politico’s Jonathan Martin to “shove it.”

    • ScoutDawg

Just awesome, thank you sir. “Holy site”!

      • Cojones

I think he meant “sight”………or maybe “shit”.

DiF, “you da man” today. Anyone who can weave this morning’s political news into a football blog has my vote. And you are having entirely too much fun!

Send a South Carolina helmet to MT as well. Nobody would guess which team that ugly POS belongs to. Who in the F&%# celebrates cock fighting???

    • Actually, I bet if you sent Spurrier’s picture, more people from Montana would identify him as Florida’s coach than South Carolina’s.

      • DawgPhan

You just started a second hobby. congrats.

      • Hill Dawg

I bet that if you sent a picture of Spurrier to Montana, they would send it back!

      • 81Dog

would that matter to South Carolina fans? They seem to think that when they hired Spurrier, they were entitled to claim his Florida accomplishments as their own.

you dont seem them claiming his NFL coaching accomplishments, however, which just proves that even South Carolina fans have SOME working brain cells.

        • hailtogeorgia

isn’t that the damn truth. i’ve never heard people brag about what a coach did at a rival school so much.

      • Keese

As with any good experiment…..why not set up some sort of placebo helmet for good measure. Hate to suggest complicating anything….but if some yahoo in MT says he’s a college fb fan…says he’s doesn’t recognize the G…why not show them one of Mandels elite teams. Maybe not buy a helmet…but just some kinda quality control in the experiment. What do you think?

        • Cojones

Well, if Penn St goes to their throwback uniform and helmet, you could use their throwback helmet.

      • AusDawg85

So you’re saying the folks in Montana don’t think CFB existed before 1990 too?

And I always try to think of SOS as the Redskins coach…that allows me to bring a smile to my face🙂

        • Cojones

Several years ago I saw MT fans at a game with a friggin’ snowstorm raging. They were crowded, singing their heads off and looked like they didn’t give a flying crap what the rest of the world was doing. Except for the snow, it kinda brought a Sanford memory tear to my eyes. Makes them CFB learned to me.

  15. BMan

South Carolina learned to not care what others think about them after realizing how seldom people actually thought about them at all.

  16. Rusdawg

You should send up Penn State and Miami helmets as well to see if anyone knows those….

  17. Just Chuck

Think maybe the Cocks are unhappy because they didn’t think of this first?

  18. Cojones

All of us Delta Tau Chi grads are behind you and Lucid Idiocy, Senator. Why not say the Montana Project is underwritten by DTX (your fans are your Dawg brothers) (Can’t get to my computer’s engineering “Delta” triangle symbol right now)? It does get similar to “Animal House” at times on this blog and this would be a classic nonharmful prank. .
