Was there life before Tebow?

If a Florida beat writer feeling the need to lecture people on the history of the Gator football program isn’t your classic pot-meet-kettle moment, I’m hard-pressed to think what else is.

I gotta admit this is priceless:

There have been numerous others go on to play in the NFL, set records, even make a bigger name for himself for looking for a bride (Jesse Palmer in “The Bachelor”) than what he did on the field.

Go Gata!

Gators acknowledging reality and history? Maybe Spurrier’s superpower is supplying delusional people with delusional candy [cough cough, Gamepenises, cough].

Gators searching desperately for nuggets of perspective and hope? Be still, my heart.

Like I said in the other thread, Florida players in general and Elam in particular need to demonstrate they deserve to be compared to some of the Mighty Gator teams and players of the past. Otherwise, they need to STFU

Lack of institutional memory is always amusing. Add a coupla points when it happens to a rival. Makes me think: the entire 20 year history of Florida Football.

It really causes them some problems since based on their belief that UF only started playing football in 1990, Stevie boy could not have won a Heisman in 196?. Mike I kid really.

He mentioned Kerwin Bell, Wayne Peace and John Reaves, so he kind of acknowledged that there is Florida football history before Spurrier. Of course, there weren’t any specifics on those guys, and only one of them was actually good. But at least he knew their names or took the time to look them up.

Tim Tebow is a legend in the SEC regardless of which team you root for. Have to have him as a Top 5 player all time, you can rate them differently after Herschel at #1. I would have him #2 or #3 or my list. Wish he wouldn’t worn Blue and Orange, but he would have made any team he played on a champion, imo.
