We’ve already had the Da’Rick Rogers suspension laid on us, but there are a few other things popping up on the radar all of a sudden that may be worth monitoring:
- It looks like there may be a little more to that Mississippi State coaching change than was first described, as now the school confirms an NCAA investigation. Dan Mullen can try the “remain calm, all is well” approach if he likes, but you never know how big a distraction these things can turn out to be until you’re in the middle of it.
- I don’t know about you, but I tend to think having a running quarterback who has to miss practice due to back spasms with a week to go before the season starter isn’t a good thing.
- And they’re really having to stretch to patch together an offensive line at Missouri right now. That may turn out to have a much bigger impact on the Georgia game than the suspensions, in case anybody in the media cares to pay attention. I guarantee you Todd Grantham is.
Get The Picture 
Talking about Mizzou’s O-line injuries wouldn’t mesh with the already decided upon “suspended for Mizzou” story line. If we win though, we’ll be dawgraded.

It’s all about the O-Line, theirs and ours. Maybe now that the ant-doping crusaders out there have landed their white whale in Armstrong they’ll get lax and let Kolton Houston play. Or maybe they’ll be even more fired up and ban him for life.
Obviously Armstrong and Houston’s cases have no bearing on each other, but I’d really like some depth and the week before the season kicks off is the time for dreaming.

Missy State better be on the lookout. The NCAA may come up empty on this investigation and find someone who sold a jersey and suspend him for four games as a way to soothe their frustrations on the original case. Nah…that’s a pretty crazy conspiracy theory on my part. Forget I said it. The NCAA would never do anything like that.

Actually they are looking into someone about the purchase of a car. There is enough evidence there that WR coach resigned. Of course, this recruit is a DB who listed UGA as his favorite all the way up to the weekend before committing to MSU – which is about the same time as he got the car. This appears to be dovetailing from the Auburn juiced transcript though as the HS/7-on-7 coach is the same for both players. I know that Memphis has been some fertile recruiting ground for the SEC but Slive should just ban schools from recruiting the area. Recruits and corruption go hand in hand in West TN

Reading between the lines, I see Missouri’s O line injuries as minor and nagging. Most of them are already back in practice. The ankle sprain has time to heal before UGA. But they do seem to be a little thin on depth, which we can all relate to.
I think the larger story is Connor Shaw’s back spasms. I believe (duh) he is the key to SC’s season. Shaw is a game changer when he’s healthy and in form.

– Starting guard lost for the season and a former walk on is battling a true freshman for his spot.
– Projected starting left tackle returning from knee surgery (we know how those things go)
– Top backup at tackle lost for the season
– Other starting guard “and perhaps the team’s strongest offensive lineman” carted off the field with a knee injury
Sounds a little more than minor to me. If we were talking about our OL, there would be absolute panic in the fanbase.

Second..starting left tackle has returned. So he’s there. If his knee wasn’t sound, they wouldn’t let him practice yet…but yes, we know how knees can go…Third, Top backup at tackle lost for season…bad..you’re right!
Fourth..Possibly bet guard carted off with knee injury…not good, but maybe just being prudent….but yeah, I guess it looks pretty grim. I can actually remember feeling like MO must feel right now. One more injury and you’re truly desperate. You start moving tight ends to tackle and stuff like that…canvassing the campus for fat farm boys…looking around to see who’s been overlooked in JC….lusting after PSU’s linemen..But yes, y
ou read it better than I did. But CS having back spasms over at SC could be huge. If you’ve ever had them you know what I’m saying…they can go away and return at any time. I’d say he’s pretty irreplaceable.

That is directly opposite of the majority opinion here who feel Bobo is so predictable even Monday morning QBs predicted every single play. Are you saying UGA will be unconventional in 2012? If so, we may break all the NCAA records this year since we have been successful on offense with the defense knowing every play that was coming.

The Dawgs’ DLine will course through the Missourah OLine like wheat threshers — this is setting up nicely for Georgia. I have a warm feeling for the SEC opener, and if Malcome can step in (w/Gurley giving him some relief) with 75-100 rush yds. it should be a double-digit win.

I thought that before the Boise St game last year. And the SC game. Even Spurrier said we were the better team, but they won’t change the score.
I think that Mizzu will scratch and kick and not make anything easy. Anything can happen in that kind of milieu.

True, el Dawgo, it is reckless (and more so with an “unknown” new rival) to be pumping out the chest this early. The Faurot Field crowd will be beyond bonkers for their first conference game (& at night no less) and that Franklin at QB could be a nuisance. But I am supremely confident in the scheme/coaching of the defense and threin lies the bluster.
