System? We ain’t got no system.

If they’re looking for a catchy name for the Gator offense, “flying by the seat of their pants” should do nicely.

Offensive coordinator Brent Pease says he’s not sure the team’s two-quarterback system is sustainable beyond Saturday’s game against Bowling Green, meaning the Gators likely will choose between Jacoby Brissett and Jeff Driskel before traveling to Texas A&M for the Southeastern Conference opener.

Pease says, ”It depends how they play, I guess, and what they create.”

Sounds like a plan, man.

You know, at this point I’m really curious about how Pease’s job interview with Muschamp went.  They had to talk about the quarterback situation, which was a mess last year.  What did Pease tell him he’d do about it?  Somehow I doubt he promised things would unfold like this.

Muschamp said, “I don’t even know what’s going on right now with the offense”.
Pease said, “I like taffy. Quarterbacks are like taffy. They look different, but not really”.

Coach Boom probably just stared. Problem solved.

I have a couple Gator fans that are a bit tender when I discuss their QB situation. A lot of “Muschamp isn’t an idiot” and “We don’t want to tip our hand before TAMU”.

After having several mid-season post-job interview stare downs with Boom, Pease will miss his own private Idaho and leave soon to go back there with a layover in Larry, Kansas to get post-Boom support from the last OC who escaped from Boom

Boom probably just asked him if he needed his own special cooler on the sideline, and when Pease said no, he was hired on the spot.

  6. Muschamp is foxier than an old armadillo. He has a plan. He’s going to charm the refs into smiling on him. He is a man living his dream. He ALWAYS has admired the Gators and wanted to be one. He’s happy. He knows Steve made the two QB quandry into a positve and he’s the Head Gator now..so all’s good. May his neck veins relax and his head never go boom.

The Gator fan who still has a conversation with me, made his yearly bet, no matter that I told him to wait the week of the game and see the spread. Straight up it is!

Afterwards and with a beer in his hands, he said, “I heard that they had decided who is going to be QB and ESPN announced it.”. This was Friday. I told him that I hadn’t heard, but would he please reconsider his bet. No way. Here he was, not sure yet who the QB was , but with enough blind loyalty to bet money. I think he is counting on what happened last year; I took his money, bought and smoked a couple of turkeys and took them to a party he threw, telling everyone he had paid me to do it.. I think he is cleverly lassoing me into smoking his turkeys for him again..
