It looks like in all the focus on the suspensions hoohah, a much bigger story was missed.
The Bulldogs were not sure how much Jones would be able to play against the Tigers.
“I’ll be honest with you, he strained his groin in the middle of the week and he couldn’t really move around very good by Wednesday,” Richt said. “We were just hoping that he’d be able to go. It was bothering him the whole game.
“It’s hard to believe that, but he sucked it up and played the whole time. He made the very big plays when we needed them the most.”
Can you imagine the collective freak out if this had been made public?
Of course, now we realize that Jarvis isn’t mortal, so it doesn’t really matter.

Jarvis’ last sack/strip ranks right up there with marcus howard’s sack and fumble recovery against colt brennan in the super bowl. Loved watching him in pursuit and seeing him raise his arm ala LT to tomahawk the ball. It was a thing of beauty

In the Sugar Bowl of 1981 (80 season). Herschel got his shoulder separated on the second play of the game. Went to the bench, he and the trainers pulled the shoulder back into place and Herschel (that’s Herschel Walker, dude…Georgia running back?) continued the game.
What I am saying is that Jarvis Jones playing that game last night with a groin pull is similar in outcome.
And that Jarvis Jones should be a Heisman Candidate. Some people refer to the Heisman as the Hypeman for obvious reasons.

So, the B12 offenses/defenses translated quite well for a half.
Jones’ game last night qualifies for a Game of the Year candidate. Having said that, I thought Murray had one of his best games ever last night. Everything was pretty much on the money. He always hit the right receiver in the right spot. His targets had a ton of drops. If the receivers do a better job clamping the ball in traffic, Georgia breaks 50.
Tons of talent, everyone got more focused and confident quarter by quarter. Can’t beat that for a conference opener, and still lots of room for improvement.

i think he was a little amped at the beginning of the game, manifested by the pick. But starting with that drive for the first score of the game I thought he really elevated his play when Georgia needed him to. Mizzou kept bringing pressure and Murray and the receivers did a good job making them pay. Overall i thought our passing game looked great once we got going. Decent protection from the line, good accurate throws from Murray, and receivers stepping up, especially Marlon Brown.

I’m a big Murray fan, but I thought he was way off the first half. He finally settled down and made the throws in the second half. Thought they all played nervous for the first half.

I think the turning point for the passing game was when Murray hit TK on that hot read when Mizzou brought the house. After that the passing offense morphed into a force the rest of the game.

Also, the OLine seemed to gel as the game progressed — no holding calls, few false starts — and kept the wolves out of the backfield.

Way off!! What are you talking about? I rewatched the game and Murray threw 2 bad passes the entire first half. Every other pass was put where it was supposed to be. The receivers can’t drop so many passes. Rewatched the game and show me where Murray was off!! The sluggish start was on the receivers and false starts!!

Truth…and an OL that leaked horribly in the 1st Q. But that really interferes with the “Murray is too hyped-up” meme. He was rock solid last night. The INT was bad and an ill-advised throw through a tight hole, but even the Manning bro’s throw a few now and then, right?

Maybe I was a little buzzed but I counted 4 forced fumbles (2 recovered by Miz and 2 recoverd by UGA) and one interception for Jarvis. A remarkable performance. If he can keep up this level of play and we get all our injured / suspended defensive players back for our SEC run, this could be a good year.

And yet ESPN was giving Javis almost no love on college football final last night. He got the fan’s helmet sticker. Meaning he was the person everyone said on twitter they has to pick. They werent going to pick him anyway? Defenders don’t get enough love. What Jarvis did last night was simply incredible.
