SEC on CBS: 9/29

Georgia-Tennessee gets the coveted 3:30 slot.

Hopefully Jarvis gets an opportunity to strut his stuff on national telly.

“Jarvis gets an opportunity to strut his stuff” which promises to lead to a career-high in receptions for the sure-handed SOD

Ahhhh man, not now….we got too much work to do…..

And you are falling down on the job. Worry that Jarvis can reinjure his groin if he plays against Vandy and won’t be able to play on the national stage set for him. Chew and worry on that until we say “I blame Bobo” as a chorus. Well? Get with it, man!

So, like, I gotta worry about Mr. Jones’ groin?

Well, I hope he gets well and stays well, but beyond that, baby, I ain’t going.

Would much prefer a night time atmosphere for our boys to feed off of. One thing I am sure of, we will get the best shot TN has, they are desperate team. Team, and SOD, can feel this season slipping away and the UGA game is the only one with a chance to salvage it. We are a better team, but our pass defense will have to improve. My guess is their lack of a running game, combined with a QB that doesn’t move around much, will allow CTG to sell out on blitzes a little more. Getting Tree and Rambo back will be very timely for the best passing threat we will see this season.

    • I would have agreed with that assessment earlier but having seen the UT/UF game I’m gong with Driskell as the best we’ll see prior to ATL. The more things change the more they remain the same. Now let’s see if Scorpio rises to the bait.

      • Macallanlover

To clarify, I said/meant the best passing threat, not the best QB. I agree Driskell is more dangerous because he can hurt you both ways and you have to be alert for talented, very fast, RBs with UF. Bray doesn’t have those weapons, I see UT as one dimensional offensively, now that one dimension is more dangerous because of it’s quick strike capabilities but it is easier to prepare for. If we had better coverage backs, I think it would almost certainly be one-sided our way.

Did I detect a little worry in there? Scorp, where are you? We are having to worry on our own. You would think that the dog in the advertisement just found where to place his bone. Worry, worry about The Worrier.

          • BWD

He’s too worried about Vandy to even think about Tennessee yet.

          • Macallanlover

Absolutely, I worry about 8-9 games a year, even those where we are better but not so much so that we don’t have to show up. Being surrounded by so many SEC programs/fans, we are a target that doesn’t get many games where we aren’t weariung the yellow jersey and targeted. TN is capable of beating us with inferior talent, they have done ita couple of times in the aughts where we were just flat for some reason.

I think we will be ready for the Viles, but as I said, the game is do or die for them. A cornered animal is always dangerous. Having good leadership on both sides of the ball, a more diverse, talented group, and fewer Energy Vampires this year, I feel as good as I can about a conference game against one of the few rivals who have a series edge on us.

UT is only up by 4 in the series. I like our changes in taking over the series lead in a few more years.

Tennessee has been the most damaging when Georgia took them for granted or had the most to lose, see 2004 and 2007 for how the big orange have derailed promisng seasons.

      • AthensHomerDawg

There are no players that suited up then on the current roster.
        Go Dawgs!

      • baddawg

Agreed. Ill be making the drive down from charlotte to watch. 2007 we had a scary good team. Very similar to this team. We can out score most teams I feel. Can’t have that usual UGA let down in a game we should win.

Do you guys realize that dating back whent the SEC split into divisions, i.e. the 1992 season, Tennessee has only one more win against Florida than Georgia has? And since UT has played UF already this year and we haven’t we have a chance to even that up if we can win in Jacksonville this year. Pretty amazing when you consider that GASP, Tennessee plays Florida home and home every year while we play in Jacksonville. This all tells me Florida has been pretty damn good the last 20 years, not that there is any inherent disadvantage in the Gator Bowl/Alltell Stadium/Whatever it is now.

    • Cojones

Soon to be the Everbark Field.

    • charlottedawg

therein lies the Gators’ success the last twenty years. They have lost only 12 times to an SEC East opponent in the last 20 years. beating divisional opponents gives you the inside track to Atlanta which many times gives you a shot at the NC

    • Macallanlover

Good thinking Brandon. And when you realize we have won virtually none of the close (one play) games in the series over the past 22 years, we have played them better than anyone. Several years we were out talented, several we had SOS/Goff mismatches, and then we just handed a few away. The series has been much more competitive than the record indicates in that stretch, and boy have the Gators misrepresented that. Truth is, there are very few years where the other program doesn’t circle that date because it could go either way and we both hope to be healthy for that game because you need all your weapons.

Excellent neutral site series with great tradition. We have some fans that need to stop whining and groveling. Out players/staff aren’t intimidated, just the media and a select group of our fans. Time for us all to pull together on this game and quit the excuses.

It is patently obvious none of the above folks watched the Vandy game last year….I get you want to demonstrate your great football wisdom, but really, I thought we had to play Vandy before any of the above teams are in the picture.

Oh….wait, did I miss the game, did we play Vandy and win….????

Trust me folks, Vandy ain’t Buffalo or FAU.

Any idea on when the Georgia – USCe game will be? I have to attend a family event the afternoon of the 6th, and if it’s a CBS game, I’m doubly screwed since I can’t even stream it on the intarwebz.

    • We won’t find that out until the same time next week.

    • Me too, I’m hoping they won’t want to put us in that slot twice in a row and LSU-FLA may be a more attractive game.

    • wnc dawg

I don’t know if you meant you can’t stream it b/c it’s not available, or you can’t stream it b/c you don’t have access. But just an FYI: you can stream the cbs game directly from live. It’s only the live feed, no starting from the beginning or rewinding, etc, but it is a free/legal/bug free stream nonetheless. I watched Bama/Ark on my phone last week.

  7. I’m a bit worried about this game. I know that UT is supposed to be one dimensional and I’m not really that scared of Bray as much as Hunter and Patterson. This just seems like the kind of trap game that can have bad results. Of course I also remember when UT pretty much dominated us for awhile there so while I don’t worry about UT as much as UF, I’ll never be able to take the Vowels for granted.

Early odds on which UT player Verne and Gary will fixate on so they can give Georgia players at little credit as possible? I’d guess Bray but you never can tell with those two.

  8. BulldogBen

Do we have an unofficial nickname for Jarvis Jones?

If not, there needs to be.

  9. Lrgk9

Veritas Dawg cause he delivers the ‘Truth’

  10. Cojones

UPS because he delivers directly to you.

    • Russ

and you’ll be toting a little “brown” after he knocks the crap out of you. What can “brown” do for you? 🙂
