Not just another (Vandy) game

Those of you who want Saturday to be just another day at the office, so to speak, are going to find themselves a little disappointed as the week progresses, I’m afraid.

Attitude and a liquored-up Sanford Stadium should make for an interesting game night atmosphere.

Hell yeah, I know it is Vandy but I have been waiting for this one for a year. GATA.

My advice to Sanders: dude, we love you, but you shouldn’t have to talk smack about being better than Vandy. It’s expected. This is exactly what the other coach and the other team wants. Just go out and get it done. Come on, man!

Reaching for my inner Scorpio here – my biggest fear is getting too hyped for Vandy and looking ahead to sakerlinera and bam! Eatin’ a big ol’ you-know-what tenn sangwich right in the middle.

Not exactly a flaming comment, imo. Besides, it’s true in the “No brag, just fact” vein. Just win, and if you can’t back it up, then eat crow and like it.

I’m as pumped up about shoving Vandy back in their hole as anyone, but I wish the players would let their play on the field do all the talking.

Exactly, and that wish for silence goes for all teams we will play, not just Vandy. Absolutely nothing to be gained by running your mouth, especially before the game.

Generally, I’d be with you but in certain instances it has powered teams on: 80s Miami; ’10 Awbern; and wherever that as* SOS has gone.

I have no desire to act like either the Miami 80s’ teams, nor the Auburn ’10 team. That is akin to not punishing bad behavior, or suspending players for the next games just to win a game. Many schools do that, and it can help you for the next week, but it drags you down over time and the product isn’t something I want to support. To do so would make me the same as those who ignored the Cam and Fairy show. Crystal trophies, and I have a couple of significant ones, do not hide the price of selling your integrity to get them…..you can see right through them.

Seems kinda lame to me, especially from someone who just got off suspension and wasn’t looking super sharp this past Sat.

I agree with some of you, I don’t want them getting so jacked up this week to destroy Vandy and then come out flat against the Hillbillies next week (see 2004, Dawgs throttle LSU in a “revenge” game and then promptly lose to UT and a freshman QB the next week).

Treat them just like FAU, go out in the 1st half, get up big and get some younger players in for experience

  11. Y’all are looking at this the wrong way. You want the players to treat them like FAU. I don’t. If we treat them like FAU, we’re going to lose. You should be happy they’re taking it personally. Ensures they’ll actually SHOW UP in the 1st quarter.

From the Vanderbilt perspective, I really think we’re going to struggle to put points on the board (unless we’re able to start a couple of 4th quarter drives at our opponent’s 1- and 5-yard lines), but I’ll be equally surprised if Shoop’s defense gives up a ton of points. I’m thinking Georgia wins in the 27-13 neighborhood.

If you were the man we would be happy with a bench depleting 10 pt win. Sorry fella we want blood.

      Seems like a reasonable forecast.

I’m anxious to see what our ground game does against a better offense. Mizzou shut it down for the most part. I wouldn’t be surprised if Vandy does too. But if Murray comes to play and our defense plays to potential, Vandy will have a hard time keeping it close.

What the fuck happened to the GTP I used to know? Where’s the spirit? Where’s the guts, huh? This could be the greatest night of our lives, but you’re gonna let it be the worst. “Ooh, we’re afraid to go with you Bluto, we might get in trouble.” Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I’m not gonna take this. Franklin, he’s a dead man! Rodgers, dead! Vandy…

Senator can I get a do over on this one. Just delete Scorpio’s and my reply and lets get a do over. That has to be the most disappointing reply to one of my posts ever. I really had high hopes.

        good grief.

also I went to vandy last year as well. Great weather. Tailgate was a ton of fun and we won.

      …DEAD!

I’m glad the Dawgs are taking it seriously. I don’t see us getting too jacked up over it. I think we’ll be up for the Vols the following week, and then Sackerlina will get theirs! Woof!

I would prefer our game playing being our speech to Vanderbilt. I wish some of these other defensive players would pay attention to Jarvis; he doesn’t run his mouth, he just runs his motor.

Listen, this year is about getting back to the atl and beating a big bully or bust. If we can’t tell vandy that were going to whip them and then back it up we might as well get ready for Tampa. While I am all for sportsmanship and etiquette I think that going into this with a public chip our shoulders will give us some idea about where we are. We’ve looked sloppy at times because we’ve been bored at times. Presumably, we are out for blood here. Let’s sit back and see where we are. this is a good early season litmus test. Lets give them 60 minutes of a beat down. If we don’t we arent where we need to be anyhow. We need to be over 40 and they need to be under 15. I want to see that good old fashioned CMR football start with about 5 minutes left in the third. Run three plays up the gut using as much time as possible, punt, get a 3 and out and do it again.

I 100% want players who feel this way — if we’ve got any who think Vandy *is* us we’re in for a world of hurt. But when you say it out loud, you better damn sure be ready to back it up. And it seems Sanders might need to be more concerned with avoiding a repeat of last week’s burn marks rather than smack-talking.
